Sounds like the 1000amp is getting close! My EV-1b controller has been failing on at lower and lower voltages lately (very scary when your ford starts having attributes of a Toyota ). I can't go on the highway anymore as I'm down to 96 until it fails again (although I'm almost finished installing a controller bypass that will get me back to 120 with the flip of a switch for cruising...
Jack, what are the current specs on your controller variant?

well i'm running a pair of 800amp igbts. Now thats a fairly optimistic current rating taken at a junction temp of 25c. Its probably good for 500amps which is what i wanted. Version 2 should be 1000amp capable but is still undergoing tests.

Short cuts?
Hello, is there a book, or précis of this strand? Trying to decipher 130 odd pages a lot of which is not germane seems like a waste of time. Any help will be gratefully received.

There is actually a TON of GREAT information in this thread. By reading this whole thing, you can go from knowing nothing about electronics, to building your own electric car from scratch.
That said, most of the info you are looking for is in the Wiki, which is at:
Open ReVolt - EcoModder
I also added a link to the wiki at the very beginning of the thread for anyone else who wants to just jump into making a controller.

Thank you very much
I can see that there is much info & wisdom in the 300 odd pages, there are also some examples which demonstrate less wisdom.
Again many thanks for the nudge in the right direction.
Best regards,

You are talking about the naked picture of Kim Jung Il, right? I knew I shouldn't have posted that.

Kim Jung Il,
Saw the picture didn't catch the name. So that was Kim jung Il dear me. Was that the live-ish one or the dead-ish one, it's so hard to tell, they look so alike?
Anyway, this won't butter no parsnips (& nor will they. Having very few parsnips & no butter whatsoever).
Thanks for the clearing that up, wisdom is where you find it.
Mobby

I personally thought it was fascinating going through the whole thread. It WAS like reading a book....more like a novel . My forklift controller is officially dead. I did a lobotomy on my car last night and a brain transplant this morning...for a puny 72 volt controller out of my electric riding lawn mower. Now off to get rear ended by a Semi [Anything I can do to help the 1000amp version along?]

I need Eagle to be able to convert the SR control board to Gerber files rather than PCB Artist, so they won't charge me $350 for like 3 boards. I need time too, as I'm just about to drive to oregon to test the bms and charger on a lithium pack. I'm just so dang busy. Makes me mad!
