My wife's father just finished rebuilding a super... he ended up replacing the McPherson strut's pillow mounts with ball end performance mounts... they're aluminum plates with a ball/socket in them, so the mount is basically solid.

I'll see if I can get some kind of pics when I go up for Christmas.

If you car has McPhereson front struts, all the "curved windsheild" supers with a horizontally stored spare tire are mac strut. If that's what you have Paul, then fixing the common SB shimmy is usually a matter of replacing the pivot at the top of the strut..
The windshield isn't curved, but the tire does sit horizontally in the trunk. What's a McPhereson Strut? What's a strut? hehe

McPherson strut designs can be seen on 84-87 (Torsion bar) Hondas, and I believe Ford Escorts, at least pre-'92.

Basically, it means that the strut is designed to control multi-axial motion, rather than just up/down (suspension's normal working range).

IOW, it replaces the "upper control arm" in dual a-arm setups.

MacPherson strut - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It can also be seen on most GM midsize cars, pre-OBD-2, at least. (Grand Prix, Grand Am, Bonneville, etc.)

The image at the top of that link is exactly what a '94 Grand Prix has.

MPaulHolmes:

Do you have a fixation or a repressed sexual desire for Oprah? Are you a mormon?

Your EV conversion is interesting, but your worthless Oprah bashing dilutes your success and makes you look like an idiot (that and your kid called you an idiot in your videos).

We need more people with actual content!!! Please!
If you want to talk about content, try providing more meaningful content on your part first.

Less negative attack fluff and more meaningful content would make your EV conversion much more appealing. You're entitled to your opinion, but please know that wearing it on your sleeve is a turn off and it makes your project/accomplishment seem trite and sleazy.

I wanted to go 'black on you bro'...wait....I am black. To late for that. So we can see that maybe you don't like Oprah jokes... So, I'll help my hubby cut back on the Oprah humor. Anything for you my possible friend.

Have a great day! And smile. I love riding in our e-bug. We'd love to hear more about yours. Please share.
Man, why are women always so non-confrontational? LOL.

Personally, I enjoy the Oprah jokes... then again, I enjoy almost any joke. Hey, if it's funny, it's funny.

TBH, when I read that guy's post, the first thought that came to mind was something like: "If you have a problem with something the guy is saying, ignore it. Don't read it. It's called freedom of speech. It's not like he's pushing his opinion on you (like you obviously are trying to do here), he's openly posting in a forum environment, in a thread started by himself, which gives him more rights over the material included in that thread than you."

But I abstained... it's not my thread to say those things in.

Paul, as stated above, I like the jokes, and noone else has said anything about it, so we're obviously not offended... don't get disheartened by one person's inability to perceive humor, please.

OK, I'm turning over a new leaf. Nothing funny whatsoever! I promise!
Thanks for abstaining, Christ! hehe

I found out I'll have no money until January 25th, so I'll save my 3 pronged blower until then. Also, I'm going to buy an Atmel programmer so I can finally transfer my mostly done program to the ATMega16 microcontroller. I also have been investigating refurbished oscilloscopes. I'll need like $920 for a pretty good one from 1996.

What's the difference between OJ Simpson and Christopher Reeve? Have I told this one before? It's true, it isn't funny...

OJ walked, and Christopher Reeve got the chair (and the death penalty).

Now, fix it...

What's the difference between OJ Simpson and Oprah?

OJ walked, and Oprah had to sit down and catch her breath.

Sorry... had to.

oh man, that was good.

I'm going to use that one tomorrow at school. that was really really good.
Oprah calls Obama the one, but no one can call her the one, because ... (WIFE EDIT)! hahaha!

Oh ya, I'm signing up with plug-in-olympia to help people to make electric car conversions for super cheap! It's going to be awesome. I wrote to the guy that is responsible for the EV plug in spot at my library. he's a gangsta! He's spent his own money to make it happen, and drives electric cars that are powered from solar cells at his house! isn't that awesome?
