the voltage holds pretty steady on the digital voltmeter. actually increases as i drove it a minute ago. I didn't notice this until now, but now my shifter indicator light is not working, it always comes on around 2000-2500 RPMs. strange! I'm not sure what you mean by toggling the vss.

"toggle", the vss is a switch, that yellow with green stripe wire should go from 0 volts to 12 volts and back to 0 volts as the car is moving. Try watching it while pushing the car slowly a couple feet in the driveway. It might have gotten shorted out or something, you have to learn how to read the codes instead of erasing them too, could be valuable info there.

I followed you suggestion and did the 1 foot slowly in the driveway. the voltage didn't drop at all.

Did somebody say hot female??

I am sorry.. I have nothing valuable to contribute, other than no hard feelings jim, hope it gets worked out soon. Other than that, I am just laughing too hard from the fail blog. It never gets old. BTW this guy is a pure mac daddy-o

Yellow with green stripe? Not green with yellow stripe?

wonky upshift light and engine light make me think something went wrong with the vss during the install, like it was shorted to ground or something. I cross checked all the leads on a mpguino here and the lowest was 50kohms (i.e. the first table here Mpguino tests - EcoModder ) if you want to check that. Might it have been put on something metal or otherwise the vss wiring come in contact with ground?

i did have an issue at the very beginning with what i thought might be a wire touching at the connector. It is possible that something grounded out when i had liquid electrical tape protecting against the possibility of that very issue. I will stick with good old fashioned electrical tape here on in. I later corrected that issue. Is it possible the unit was shorted? I will try a few different wires in the ecu. can i disconnect the main wire plugs at the ecu and test them while removed from the ecu? Is that what is recommended? If so, I will jack the front drivers side wheel and give a rotation to find a reading. also do i need a key in the ignition durring this testing?

actually the wire arrangement demanded by the connector arrangement would ground out the injector because it is nearest to the black ground wire.(or create backfeed on the injector as well since it is also next to the 12V lead wire) If anything, the vss could have received 12v from the lead creating a backfeed of sorts. I will continue my quest tomorrow after work. Please throw any new thoughts my way.

here are my mpguino ohm readings:

all numbers read are as black lead left# red lead right#
1-2 = 7.1M
1-3 = 7.1M
2-3 = 10.4K
3-1 = 6.8M
3-2 = 10.1K
A-C = 0 no reading
A-B = 8.4M
A-D = 49.5K
B-A = 20.7M
B-C = 0 no reading
B-D = 20M
D-B = 8.5M

these don't seem correct according to the link you sent here. Anything we can do?

It looks fine to me. Nothing under 50k like I said. Link is kinda old and not to be taken literally, just making sure there were no dead shorts, assuming "0 no reading" is infinite.

But you did take a shortcut on the table there, and I'm not sure what the status of the upshift or the engine light is.
