I will have to make a trip to advanced auto and have them check the engine code. I have just been disconnecting my negative battery terminal to reset my check engine light. what multimeter readings can I check to make sure my vss is working properly?

Well, you could swap the injector and vss pins at the mpguino plug (lift the little tang gently with an xacto knife, slide the pin socket out) and see if you get some sort of gph reading when you drive around, and a speed reading proportional to rpm.

That will tell you if something is wonky with the guino, though the prebuilts are tested before being shipped.

if after swapping:
you get both gph and speed then ??? (loose connection?)
you get speed but no gph then probably the vss circuit tap is wonky.
you get gph but no speed then maybe guino speed circuit is wonky.
you get no gph or speed then please report directly to FAIL Blog: Pictures and Videos of Owned, Pwnd and Fail Moments

the vss pulls 12v when running. the tangs on the connectors are all fowled up from my miultiple removal and insertion during all of this testing. I will try swapping the vss and inj plugs when I get the new connector in the mail. for now i don't have a hot female plug and don't want to short anything out in the guino with any loose wiring. I just retested all of my lines with my multimeter and have a steady acurate reading with no indication of voltage loss or shorts. so that eliminates a loose connection anywhere other than the connector or the guino. I am certain of the correct fuel injector as i unplugged it and it was the only lead out of the 2 possible without voltage before ignition.

I could look at that list all day. Funny, this one wasn't that big of a fail to me

So a constant 12v for vss isn't right if the car is moving. You should get a 12 to 0 volt toggle to the tune of 8208 toggles per mile.

the 12v readout is at idle in the driveway directly connected from the voltmeter to the vss wire. I didn't try driving with the voltmeter attached. That is my only option at the moment since i can't get a hot into the guino at the moment.

roll it slowly down the driveway and observe voltage, shouldnt have to move it more than a foot or so to toggle the vss (5280 feet per mile)
