I voted no because I don't want to miss any good ideas. However, I have noticed some of the sketchy things do not seem to have consistent testing to back them...

I think banning them is a bit too strong, but you could make a "Dustbin" category for claims that don't have any basis in sci/eng.

Edit- NVM, you did make a category...

So should threads like these:

http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...ors-16406.html

Go as well? Since he is simply asking about them? And not making any claims? Plus he's new. Don't know why everyone is being harsh there.

But, I'd vote yes, it should still go.

Problem is some of the stupidest stuff draws the most commentary and clogs things up. I distinctly recall an HHO obsession virtually destroying what was once a decent site. Can't allow the B.S. to take over.

NO, posts that are only opinion and have no data or repeatable results are not worth dog snot, they do not get or deserve any serious consideration (excepting for amusement as the poll indicates).

No, the point is not to talk about "opinions", it is to figure out what works and what doesn't. Opinions are too much like politics.

Again, NO, the owners of the board have expressly asked to refrain from using the "thanks" button as an applause meter when the discussion goes the way someone likes it. It is their board, you are a guest.

As you can see from the poll results, banning speech and censorship of ideas (no matter how loony) are an expression and exercise of authoritarianism.

Creating a new sub-forum is a great idea. But labeling it as you suggested is inherently biased.

Why not give it a simply unbiased label such as calling it: radical ideas?

But don't be surprised if as a sub-forum, it becomes very popular...

If it is limited (i.e. given it's own space or playground) it won't "clog anything up".

Instead of banning playfulness, we can recognize the usefulness and benefit of providing a playground, where "anything goes" - where playfulness and even total nonsense is OK.
