IIRC some tractors for coffee farms had aerodynamic fairings, but it was meant more to prevent damage to the trees than any actual benefit for the tractor.

Now that design makes sense to use as some sort of makeshift combine harvester.

I think we will soon find examples of tractors with specialized fairings that we could call "ricers" ![Wink](/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif)

I have already been in rice farms, and in fact there are some odd equipments there, yet none so interesting as an aerodynamic oddity ![Turtle](/forum/images/smilies/turtle.gif)

It's in the cloud: higherlogicdownload.s3. amazonaws.com/
It's funny, corrugated airframes fell out of favor in the 1930s, vortex generators are debated even today.
Now we have riblet films. ('four year lifespan' vs 'no additional maintenance')
The interface between the airframe and the atmosphere extends down to the quantum level. That means there is opportunity to engineer a nano-scale meta-material that creates a vacuum at the surface.

Wouldn't need a vacuum, just attached, laminar flow is sufficient. With a vacuum, where do you dump the pressure you build? Because to have a vacuum, you get a free, no charge to you pressure gradient.
