Nice but impractical. Commercial would need sensors out a bunch more (200 ft?) because of their airspeed and slow response of all that mass. Someone should have figured out how to detect this but I suspect it isn't a high priority for cattle flights.

Better seats possibly with air springs reduces passenger discomfort. I have more padding on my wooden kitchen table chairs than I had on my last flight.

Padding and anti motion costs money the bean counters won't spend

Starting at about the 10:15 mark a couple of odd looking aerodynamic car models are shown.

Good documentary, I recommend watching it from the beginning.

From the December banners at Justacarguy.

Car/trailer/boat is a combination everyone still needs. Apparently.

edit:
I'm looking at this and wondering about a dolly mounted like a single wheel trailer with two wheels and a fifth wheel hitch. I don't recall seeing farmer's trialers on the freeway.

I am newly fascinated by this website: carsthatnevermadeitetc.tumblr.com

This one collection (1992) has individual entries, like the bike carrier similar to Ed Roth's Surfite (1965)

https://64.media.tumblr.com/df158f38...30ed73353d.jpg

Fiat Cinquecento Z-Eco, 1992. To coincide with the launch of the Cinquecento Fiat invited a number of design houses to come up with variations based on their new city car. The was Zagato’s idea, half car, half bicycle rack.

I.DE.A Grigua, 1992. The most radically futuristic of the Cinquecento-based concepts came from the I.DE.A Institute who proposed a high-roof mini-MPV with a central driving position

Fiat Cinquecento Fionda, 1992, by Coggiola. A stylish small 3-seat coupé was one of a series of concepts based on the Fiat Cinquecento presented alongside the Cinquecento’s launch at the 1992 Turin Motor Show

But wait... there're more

Chevrolet Corvette XP-719, 1959. A mock-up for an experimental rear-engined Corvette designed by Carl Renner and Larry Shinoda (seen the fullsize rendering pic with engineer Ron Hill). This was the first known Corvette concept with anything other than a front mounted engine.

Airbus Is Testing Planes With Flapping Wings to Help Reduce Carbon Emissions
https://robbreport.com/motors/aviati...cy-1235460915/
Quote:
Headed up by industry veteran Sue Partridge, the Wing of Tomorrow program has determined that future wings need to be 25 percent longer than at present. The wingspan of the A320 family of narrow-body, short-haul jets, for instance, will increase from 118 to 148 feet (feet (36 to 45 meters). The wings will also be made of composite materials that are lighter than the aluminum alloy Airbus has used for the past 40 years.....

In addition, Airbus will test out some new “flapping wings” in Bordeaux, France. Christened the eXtra Performance Wing, the design is rooted in biomimicry (biologically inspired engineering) and changes shape and form during flight to maximize its aerodynamic efficiency. How? Gust sensors on the front of the aircraft register any changes in turbulence and then the system automatically makes relevant adjustments to the control surfaces of the wing to improve airflow.

Quote:
..........“The eXtra Performance Wing technologies, which change the shape of the wing by mimicking a bird's feathers, will adjust automatically to maximise aerodynamic flow.”

There are also the hinged wingtips, which have a dual purpose. On the ground they prevent the aircraft from exceeding the maximum wingspan length that can be accommodated at airport gates (36 metres), and in the air they are flexible, able to change shape to avoid putting too much pressure on the wing. The wingtips also allow for a longer span to be achieved, increasing lift and reducing drag.

Looks like conventional wheel arch venting, but why it is needed when the inboard plane is rather open is a mystery to me.
