Thoughts? Maybe someone has some numbers? It's so damn ugly, the least they could have done is make it have some decent aero, right?

Oh yeah, it's an Oshkosh NGDV (new mail truck).

My apologies if it's been mentioned here, did a quick search and found nothing...
Reminds me of a current politician that resigned.
I see some attempts at aero.
Not sure why they need that expansive/expensive of windshield for the task at hand.
I own 3 1962 Dodge Darts, so my definition of ugly and aero may differ.

Would it have any provision to drive standing? So, the driver would need such a bigger windshield in order to not have the view obstructed.

Can't see that being an allowed driving position today with all the safety protocol now in place. 50 years ago maybe with the milkman? Good question though.

It's what happens when you have a designer attempt a commercial vehicle with the mantra of good visibility. Some Commercial buses have a bigger one piece windshield than a one car garage door. View out is marvelous for the passenger, but suck a rock and it's costly really fast even if it doesnt spontaneously disassemble on the freeway

Most of the info I found pertaining to stand-up driving conversions were focused on garbage trucks, some also involving RHD conversions.

All the standup driver vehicles I drove had a very uncomfortable mini seat ( about a half butt in size, several directions ditto for backrest) that you were supposed to be on for "high speed operation" with the door closed. On a 100f day you aint closing the door and after 20 minutes you have painful seat creases on your posterior. Seatbelts/restraints will keep you inside away from stuff but in local delivery most everyone doesn't wear them. Slows you down way too much.

I drove the 1948 bread truck until I got my first car, parked in front. It had bunks, a sink, stove and an AM radio. Not standup, but the seat was on a post so it tilted forward under the steering wheel. The seat was handy for an RV. The slide-back door was handy for cruising through drive-in restaraunts.

I was bored so I scanned through the pages of Hemmings SIA and found this:

In 1936 Ford heard about Fuller's Dymaxion Transporters with rear flathead engine and rear wheel steering, so they CYA'd with this patent. Rear engine Ford with four-wheel steering.
