It might be able to distinguish between smooth and dimpled balls. In test equipment, you get what you pay for. This will work for various classroom demonstrations with a smoke trail, but not have the precision for experimentation.

The mirror is outside the width of the buses body and they pull right up to the curb.

Rear wiper in a sedan might seem pointless and an aerodynamic disturbance, but it does seem somewhat helpful in some circumstances.
