Worst case scenario you could use the working head light to slave a relay and power both head lights directly from the battery or alternator.
This is a common mod for older fords with dim head lights.
I also did this to my wife's car so I could upgrade it to 100w high beams.
Also you could have a bad ground. If you had power at the head light but it doesn't come on.

Check all the grounds? The wiring diagram is supposed to help me find those, right?

99 out of 100 GM pickups drive around with one headlight. Back in the day GM used the song "Like A Rock" in it's ads to the point where that song makes me rage. I always thought they should have used The Wallflowers' "One Headlight".
This is a prime example of why I prefer "Old School". None of my relics would suffer this nonsense. It would be a bad bulb or crusty socket, end of story.

Nope the wiring diagram won't show squat about where the grounds are actually located.
Don't worry about finding the location of the ground, check continuity with the multimeter.

Um, yeah, O'Reilly's gave me the wrong bulb. It looked right, but wasn't. I had a spare from my Accord and it fit, so Mom is good to go now.
Since I believe personal embarrassment is worth potentially helping people: If your headlight goes out and you have separate high and low beams, make sure you are trying to replace the right bulb!

You gotta be able to laugh at yourself, you can't always rely on others.

I keep a part number list for my various vehicles so I can quickly find what I need. It's just in a OneNote document, and lists things such as H7 bulbs, OEM wiper inserts, tire sizes, etc. I don't let shop monkeys tell me what I need, I tell them what I need.
