Well thanks to 320's burd's clio i now feel ashamed!

but i'm going to embrace the lessons learned, see how chug runs a mind-numbingly simple 4 squirt per rev fuel system, the easiet way for me to attempt a kilokilo would be to try p+g........

lol!
claire the clio owner is happy that she's inspired some p&g!

i've also been using p&g with the saab and the auto avensis- seems to net 50miles to every 12 gal or so.

You're ideally placed with that diseasal!
low rpm high torque pulses are where you make the gains.

Good luck!

I frickin' LOVE P+G!!!

I was initally sceptical after bad returns on the last polo doing engine off P+G, but this is amazing!

I started it at 380miles into a tank, well into the parachute end of the gauge, and the needle has barely moved 70miles later. My rules are:

*70-57mph glide (that way I'm not slowing up any professionals like lorry drivers restricted to 56mph)
*Not attempting arround Mway junctions/uphills
*clutchless 'blip' re-engage on fifth.

doing a bit of maths and ignoring the load increases.

normally cruise rpm = 2750rpm = 11000squirts/min
glide rpm = 1000rpm = 4000squirts per min
= 63% reduction in fuel during glide!

for acceleration I'm using the same throttle position that sustains the 'normal' cruise speed, and as my ULTRA simple fuel system is 2D (throttle pos v's rpm) rather than 3D (throttle v's rpm v's load) it means i'm not burning any extra above and beyond the cruise fuel I would have used! (...............I think). and thanks to the big torque in a little car the pulse sections are amazingly short!

I can't wait to attempt this on a full tank!

glad its going well!

i just use the clutch for reengagement on the saab-spooling up the turbo even a bit without load is a waste..

Wonder what p&g will add to this tank?

Fingers crossed

I was going to be around my 60mpg average anyway but with this I feel I'm definately going to be into a record 540+ tank

on a normal tank @450miles I'd have a safe 80miles left... thing is I'm skint and i need it to do atleast another 105 to get me to the end of the week. Even if i stopped P+G'ing it where the needle is now thats do-able, come to think about it, that would get me to 555miles...... If I keep up the P+G then that extra 50mile per tank you talk about could be accurate and i could see 580(?!).

JEEEEEZZ

currently @ 521milesonly just @ 1/4tank, which leaves me the final 1/8 (don't stray into the red 1/8!!!!!!!!) to do the 30ish miles home.... fingers crossed the gauge doen't go all lemming on me!

With apologies to Dexy's

Kilo Kilo Kilo Kilo...

I'm finding P&G with the G bit being in gear is ace - I had 9999 mpg on the SG the other day. Don't want to cut the engine due to heat soak and stuff.

And I have rust to deal with. On my galvanised car
