Have you got a route for the air intake? going to use the plastic bottles to make the grill block?

As for the painting- use paint, not primer so it doesnt absorb water and rust

Used to do my fwd 'drift' in a Mini, the original one. I got quite good at it on most roundabouts. But of course success leads you to become cocky and there was than incident with the dry stone wall in Lancashire and my mum's Mini City.

Any startling developments on the polo front? I am eagerly anticipating some good mileage out this car!

my toyota should soon be due its second tank-if i've cracked 40mpg uk then you'll need to step it up boyo

actually this time was a drop in FE.....

Not that big a shock when 200+ miles of return journey down the a49 from warrington to hereford for a race meet. at 5am its totally empty and just too tempting not to enjoy the secure road manors of the little 'dub within the legal speed limits.

still no mods though as I've been doing more and more writing for Radio Race Car International which has took up time...

heh to be honest, the avensis does not lend itself to spirited driving..

Rob, I used black foam pipe insulation stuffed between the VW grill bars for a quick, easy upper grill block. This is sold in the U.S. in hardware stores to insulate plumbing pipes. I thought I would try it temporarily to see if my Golf ran too hot because it is easily removed. It didn't overheat so it has stayed for 3 years. As others have stated, the diesel runs best when fully warmed up. In winter I split some pipe insulation to block off some of the bottom grill too. This helps the car warm up quicker. These engines are very efficient and don't heat up in winter like gasoline engines.

Been meaning to get round to the grille block and that would be a great way to do it.

The polo' has got its next big test next week, when its being used a team bus on the way the Help for Heroes British 24hr, so it'll be doing a 300mile weekend with a full load of camping, race gear, pitboards and BBQ stuff

ah bugger you'd have been there for ages to fill the fabia grill though

I'm confused re the grill block you're making-have you an intercooler to consider?

Reason i ask is my newly puchased saab has a large vent in the lower grill-but i dont want to block the intercooler?
