Cunning blokes Skoda - the intercooller is behind a small grill next to the right hand side (from the drivers steat) foglight. The exit is in the front wheelarch.

For those in the U.S., Skoda is part of the world's third largest car maker which includes VW, Audi and Porsche. If you click on COcyclist and look at my photos on this site you will see the left "small grill" (the horn is behind this one) blocked off with a waterproof plug for a block heater in it. I do use a little foam in the intercooler grill in subzero (Farenheit) temperatures until the engine warms up.

Another record tank, 61MPG!!!! (uk)

I made one change and one change only.

2nd gear throttless starts - thats it.

because the polo weighs chuff all it really doesn't fuss the engine and clutch engagement is only as long as setting off in first (timed it)

(BUT it help the clutch as there is not 1-2 change, most people leave there foot on the pedal between set-off and 1-2nd change which can glaze it up!!)

Excellent work fella!

Lets hope the aero mods start to show some benefits when you add them-also sounds like the car would benefit from a warmer engine bay- a partial belly pan may help?

I've got high hopes for this Saab i've just aquired- proper P&G is much better than the auto setup.

Hopefully be 129% off the bat!

Congratulations - that Polo is looking like a good investment. Have you worked out how long before it pays for itself ? At UK fuel prices that can't be long...

For once I have managed a tank of long-ish trips so I may just be chasing you quite close to 60 on this tank - SG2 says 57, on board says 63. Who knows

I'm planning to track the money I save so I can see how many miles I'll be ahead with this turd!

As for the diseasals- it'd be interesting to see what were to happen if you and Rob were to go for the "Hot coolant, Cold Air" approach...

good luck on Catching Rob!

Hahaha love Chug after this weekend, 260miles in 110kph 'fast convoy' fully loaded with camping gear and race stuff and it STILL breaks the 60mpg barrier (must have been drafting )

I really need to get on with doing some mods.....

Thats pretty promising!

I'm hoping my Gf can get her Clio to circa 55mpg, not bad for a Petrol..

The Scab did 36.2mpg, but leaked 1 gal out the filler neck before I got it sorted, so 40 should be doable this tank. aiming for 45mpg from it at the moment.

Get some arero action going on!

Well thanks to 320's burd's clio i now feel ashamed!

but i'm going to embrace the lessons learned, see how chug runs a mind-numbingly simple 4 squirt per rev fuel system, the easiet way for me to attempt a kilokilo would be to try p+g........
