Frankly those Hondas have about 100k more miles than similarly priced ones where I live, and I don't think I'd want a 1st-gen Prius.

So, I got an email from the insurance adjuster, informing me my car is a total loss, and that my claim would be transferred to their total loss department for further processing... I talked with the owner of the TDI I showed earlier, if he still has it when I get my money(provided it's enough), I might end up buying it... Doubting I'll get the $2900 for the insight, but I would love it...

A TDI would be another excellent choice IMO. Backseats, probably more comfortable, more power, and still easily 50mpg+. Of course, you'll likely have the typical VW problems...

Minor electrical problems are far more common on older European cars than Japanese and American ones. Usually noting catastrophic, but don't be surprised if none of the power windows, locks, sunroof and maybe some of the bits on the gauge cluster don't work or quit working. That's not to say Insights don't have their own list of small things that go wrong - most all of them need a new rear engine mount by now.

Owner said the wipers don't return to the park position always(just tap the lever)... I plan on replacing the multifunction switch to correct that, as he has already replaced the relay...

So, i have finally heard from the insurance adjuster... They sent me a settlement letter and valuation statement... The mileage listed was wrong, they claimed my car had about 10k more moles than it does... I sent em a reply indicating this and sent a picture of the odometer for verification... The offer(with my odo listed at 172128mi) was $2,190... I'm hoping the mileage error brings my offer up some...

So, I found this...
Cars for Sale: Used 2005 Saturn ION in Level 2, Waynesburg OH: 44688 Details - Sedan - Autotrader
It's an 05 Ion sedan... If it really only has 100k, and runs/drives, it sounds like a winner...
Pros:
Economical L61 Ecotec engine, the same as in my Malibu(although not MAF controlled), with manual trans
I've got a spare 04 sedan for parts
The rough spots on the car makes the price really attractive
Manual mirrors, and windows makes the car lighter than other ones
Cons:
05 was the worst year for the L61... Very little tuning support, poor exh manifold design, etc
That blue painted radio bezel! hideous...
Probably won't be able to Uber in it

Sorry for the vehicle loss.
Never had hit a deer in over forty years until 2014. Running 68-mph in an oilfield spec Peterbilt. Hit that buck with the corner of the plate steel bumper and he flew apart in four pieces. Washed it off and good as new.
On my Dodge pickup, I'd hate to have it totalled. But dislike the full replacement Ranch Hand bumpervill need to avoid that level of damage due to weight and non aero qualities.
Good luck with your next one.

Back when I had a truck, I thought about building an aero bumper... Something that would shrug off a deer hit but not hurt the aero of the truck I had...
