Yeah, I kinda wish my car had the LX9, instead of the L61... Similar mileage(taller final drive), but more power(207hp vs 145)

If the battery is weak, you can keep the IMA light off by not using assist, which can be disabled with a clutch switch. However, it can also just be a sign of a hypermiler trying to get more manual control over the hybrid functions. I have one, for instance, and use it frequently.
EDIT: However, I don't see why it would matter in Florida, where there are no inspections.

He claims 60-70mpg... Maybe he's just a hypermiler... Most times a full grid charge helps weak IMA batteries, right?
