My daughter is approaching 7. I expect she'll be more influenced by us than typical girls her age since she has a difficult time making friends and seeks rule-following. The next older one will be a complete rebel.
I suppose that partially explains whey big societal changes occur generationally, as one cohort abandons the ways of the older generation.
My grandfather always said that academia was the "golden ticket", and that I need to pursue that as hard as possible. I hated 99 out of every 100 seconds of school. No way was I going to subject myself to that until I was 30 so that I can sign things with PhD
