Oh yeah, I've considered those, but I think they are very pri$ey :

CapAds not rotating wheel cover - No non not rotating advertising media hubcap

This is actually the "effect" I wanted to create with my old SC2 back in the 1990's. I wanted to make it look like my car was "floating" over the road.

Because you are adding a heavy "weight" to the outside of the wheel (at least that's how I *think* it works), I suspect that the driving characteristics change.

Hey, I'm wrong, they seem to be affordable. I was thinking $200 to $300, but this Australian site claims $75 for a set of four :

Cap Ads™ - Be Seen, Be Noticed
(hrmmmm, not too friendly selling scheme, though)

I was just thinking; these anti-spinners could lead to something more. Maybe you could also have movable front wheel well skirts like basjoos, but use the anti-spinners to move the skirts during a turn instead of his rollers. Without the rollers the skirts might be slimmer.

Good point. Here's a similar (same?) idea to yours. I've seen these things live on Taxi cabs. They stick out just a little bit. Maybe you could mount a larger diameter cover onto the existing CapAd cover. The idea wold be that you cover more of the wheel. You couldn't bring it down all the way because you would need clearance for wheel deformation, but you could make it closer to the ideal.

Question: Didn't someone point out that F1 did this on front tires a while ago on another thread? I can't remember if they were just flat covers or anti-spinners like we are talking about.

I think those look better than moon caps. But I wonder how much they stick out

I wonder if you could get a sponsor to offset the cost of the AdCaps?

Would be Cheeeep!

I'm thinking the anti-spinners could make skirts for both the front and the back. The fronts could have a little extra on the front and back, so when the tire moves, there is still skirt.

Another idea for the front skirt is to make it longer, and stick it out more, but it would have to be 2 pieces (or hinged..) because of the door, and you could also make rear skirts to match. Your car would look all bubbly on the sides.!

Actually since these are meant to remain static, get them as large as you can, then trim the bottom flat to account for tire flexing ...

From what I've seen they do rock a little from acceleration/braking but I think a big cover (one that comes within inches of the bodywork) could be anchored to the fender with a bit of elastic. Heck, maybe the gap between cover and fender could be bridged all around with an elastic fabric or maybe the fabric could go right across and the cover used to move it out of the way during turns?

OK so they rock a little, get some of that material used for the lowrider sparking blocks, put them on the corners and really have some fun ...
