There are some things that I still find some (often unusual) humor on, so I'm far from becoming a leftie. But I don't see any funny aspect on the mask mandates.

That's a case that's more subtle. Absurdist theater isn't to everyone's taste.

Masks, like most everything, should be personal preference. If a business wants to mandate, let 'em. If they don't want to require it, then we're free to avoid them.

Heck, businesses already have the right to require a dress code. Masks are no different in that regard. More effective would probably be proof of recent hand washing.

Regarding humor, someone said that if the reaction to a joke is to clap instead of laugh, then it was political, not comedy. There are funny political jokes, but 90% of the Trump stuff is simply a lack of creativity.

Kidding aside, I said at permalink #34 that Mr. Floyd was doomed to not survive the night.

Thirty (three?) lives, millions of dollars in fire damage and the imperilment of The Union later, it's official. He probably ingested the Fentanyl to conceal it.

Good news? Portland police are engaging with Antifa now. Disney is purging their creatives. Chyna is purging their Deep State. "Turn the blade inward and scrape the poison from the bone", allegedly.

So, what does anyone think of [girl gamer] Luna oi!?

Admittedly, Vietnam is the only other country I've ever been in (well, that and Canada for a day), but I admire the Vietnamese people. I learned that after I left the country, in 1975-79 Pol Pot infiltrated 190,000 Cambodians into their country. That's 3-4 times as many as the USofA had at any one time. Then they kicked Chyna's *ss.

After I got back to The World, I fell into cooperatives (White Bird) and autonomous temporary zones (Oregon Country Fair). It turns out Vietnam had 25,000 coops.

They've decided that to survive in a capitalist world, pure communism is a stretch goal.

The riot damage is likely insignificant compared to the cost of perpetually paying overtime to police to "stand down" and write reports. So much for defunding the police; they've never been more well funded and less utilized.

Let's spin the Fentanyl in a different (deceptive) way; his blood was mostly non-fentanyl.

I don't follow news to know anything about the rest, but I would be happy if Disney sucked a lot less. No more "listen to your heart" BS, please.

The disemboweling of various civic centers is non-trivial. Permanent redistribution of populations is possible.

It's an interesting world out there, India seems intent on joining the U.S.'s and Russia's hand in friendship. At least according to TFIGlobal and WION. Japan and Vietnam are cooperating (Japan invaded Vietnam in WWII).

And Beck is still putting out music.

Well my eagerness to emphasize a point framed it poorly. None of it is trivial.

From an immediate financial point of view, paying thousands of cops to do nothing is an economic drain on society. Then there's the cost of time and money for detectives to investigate the vandalism and violence, and it detracts from the effectiveness of investigating other crimes suffered by other victims. The downstream negative consequences are enormous and incalculable.

All along my principle of granting the highest level of autonomy and authority to the lowest organizational level possible presents the best solutions to all. If a city, state or individual wants to go full stupid, they can do so and enjoy their new utopia free of outside interference.

The future gradually comes into focus. The burgeoning field of quantum computing is threatened by the increase in Cosmic rays in the Grand Solar Minimum.

Building quantum computers underground or designing radiation-proof qubits may be needed, researchers find.
