Sure, but anyway, Brazil is quite odd sometimes.

That's the point. We're all [differently] odd.

Local to myself (and suprisingly many others here) we have a vote by mail system.
Quote:
The VBM system was first approved for testing by the Oregon Legislature for local elections in 1981.... The Oregon Legislature approved a proposal to expand VBM to primary and general elections in the spring of 1995, but Governor John Kitzhaber vetoed the bill. However, by January 1996, Oregon became the first state to conduct a general election totally by mail to fill a vacancy in a federal office when it elected Senator Ron Wyden to replace Bob Packwood* with a 66 percent turnout.

....and on November 3, 1998 Oregon voters decide to expand VBM to primary and general elections by a vote of 757,204 to 334,021.

In the 2000 election cycle, Oregon for the first time used VBM in a Presidential Primary election and then a Presidential General election, with a 79 percent turnout.

Oddly enough — Tim Pool and his sidekick Adam are saying President Trump is pulling out of Afghanistan. I can't find any second source. ??? But they even broke the fourth wall and asked the President directly to fix Section 2320.

But when I was looking around I stumbled on twitchy.com/.../best-tweet-of-the-day-kirstie-alley-asks-for-help-finding-a-new-state-to-live-in...

That link on the twitchy.com website main page is intercepted by a Google 404 page. DDG doesn't even find the story. ??? What's up with that?

He didn't have to stay cancelled if he didn't want to- one of the guys who ran for President that year is still running today.

All I remember is it happened really fast. It's much more typical today.

That has always been Twitter, people just didn't realize until now.

*I've never been on Twitter, but assuming based on the stupid concept of extremely limited characters and hashtag virtue signalling.

The concept was explained to me in 2009, and I said, "well that's dumb".

Of course, in 1998 I had the same response when someone told me they were creating their own home network. Now everyone has a home network.

Not everyone.

This is a different sort of dumpster fire than was explained to you in 2009. This is a whole-scale subversion of the entire platform.

The blow-by-blow from Tech Crunch:
techcrunch.com/2020/07/15/twitter-accounts-hacked-crypto-scam/

This wasn't a crypto scam worth $100,000; it was a shot across the bows. What it exposed is far worse than the original compromise:
www.zerohedge.com/markets/twitter-hiding-screenshot-its-trending-and-search-blacklist-tools

There was a time when I thought if I was to sign up for any social media it would be Twitter because it seemed the least objectionable. Now it's starting to look like it's Facebook.

I guess I'll stick to the aggregators. Nowadays instead of Fark and Slashdot, it's Donald.win, Rantingly, Knews, News Ammo... I still don't know why Youtube is social media since you can lurk there.

edit:
I can't wrap my pea-brain around Music Theory. But we have readers in Brazil. They might find this interesting: The Girl From Ipanema is a far weirder song than you thought

Social media needs to become distributed rather than corporately held.

The only platform I ever liked was Myspace, but apparently people don't want *Theirspace*, they want to participate in *CorporateBook* and whatever political agendas it has.

I get that. People don't have time to have their own online portal, their own ideas, or their own ideology. Easier to just adopt whatever else looks shiny and comes pre-made.

Myspace was doing fine until Rupert Murdock bought it, then the [dark] powers behind Zuckerberg moved against him.

==>wordpress.org.

I liked Bossa Nova. It turns out it isn't white culture appropriating Caribbean music, it is Brazilian appropriating American African/American Blues. From America.

Nowadays the "cancel culture" turned random anonymous A-holes into the typical internet troll with an impulse from hashtags. There were fake news before internet, but now any A-hole who does nothing but replicate hashtags feels like it was someone relevant even though it's just another random A-hole who may die surrounded by stray cats.
