It's a fake pressure cooker, with only the loud idiots (on any extreme) making it seem worse than it is.

It's also superficial diversity. SpaceX has specific goals with specific skill sets that requires uniform thinking (engineering, science, etc). A range of skin tones and representation of both genitalia is uninteresting to me because it's entirely superficial with regards to space travel.

I'm with Sam Harris where these traits should be as trivial as hair color.

I was making the reverse point, that a meritocracy can be 'diverse' tangentially. Anecdotal but I still like to see what some people claim they want just fall out of the equation.

In other news, Chinese troops are being reverted to lower altitudes from the Line of
Actual Control. Indian and Tibetan troops were born at that altitude. China is the colonizer so they don't have anyone with the respiratory system upgrades.

I discovered this problem in middle school after having a bonfire at the place we'd camp every night during the summer.

We doused the fire in the morning and left. The next evening we returned and in the darkness could see a faint glow coming from a hole in the ground. We doused it again... we repeated this for a week until finally putting out the smoldering fire. There's still an indentation in the ground from where the dirt collapsed when the root system burned.

Similarly, we lost half our pile of bark dust once due to smoldering that persisted for a week. Soaking the pile for half an hour with the hose each time wasn't enough to extinguish it.

Centralia, Pennsylvania. Since (at least) 1962, a coal-seam fire has been smoldering right below the town.

Down in New South Wales, Australia, there's a famous coal seam under Mount Wingen that's been burning for 6,000 years straight. Scientists think it was first ignited by an ancient brush fire or lightning strike.

I will list the differences between doing nothing and a declaring a health emergency:
