Re: "That is the unifying reason for government"

Sucker, please. The government was formed and agreed upon by a tiny minority of the people- those that already had some power. Some of them didn't want the little people to vote at all. Then it was white male landowners.

Don't get me wrong- I'm not anti-government. But I will point out the BS that most people believe. And there's a lot of it!

10% revolted. The voting system was the best we could do at the time. The '2/5th of a person' was to contain the power of the slave-holding states. Abolition took less than 100 years (1789 to 1865, or thereabouts), and that's 150 years ago. The franchise was expanded until recently. The blue states are resegregating.

Re: "The 2/5th of a person' was to contain the power of the slave-holding states."

The 3/5ths ~compromise was political blackmail. "The North" had industry, "The South" had agriculture, and they both had slaves. The (less poulated, more rural) South wanted to equalize their political power by adding 3/5ths more power (probably per slave owned), so 1+n(3/5). Sound familiar? The Electoral College was originally apportioned using the 3/5ths compromise. Sound familiar? The less populated states want more voting-power. Tumbleweeds get voting-power. Open land gets voting-power. People? People get unequal voting-power depending on what state they vote in.

And, the politicians in VA wanted the EC because they had the power with it. That's why so many presidents were from VA.

Have you ever heard that the Revolution was because it was rumored that England was abolishing slavery?

10% of what? What percentage of people do you figure had a vote on the formation of the government? I'll give you a hint: the elite.

Pleez consolidate your scattered thoughts, and alternate with other posters. You're clogging up the thread. It's not all about you.

The US Constitution:
1. Solidified the theft of the land
2. Codified the federal government
3. Solidified the power of the ruling elite
4. Codified taxation
