Sucker, please. The government was formed and agreed upon by a tiny minority of the people- those that already had some power. Some of them didn't want the little people to vote at all. Then it was white male landowners.

Don't get me wrong- I'm not anti-government. But I will point out the BS that most people believe. And there's a lot of it!

The government was formed and agreed upon by a tiny minority of the people- those that already had some power. Some of them didn't want the little people to vote at all. Then it was white male landowners.

10% revolted. The voting system was the best we could do at the time. The '2/5th of a person' was to contain the power of the slave-holding states. Abolition took less than 100 years (1789 to 1865, or thereabouts), and that's 150 years ago. The franchise was expanded until recently. The blue states are resegregating.

The 3/5ths ~compromise was political blackmail. "The North" had industry, "The South" had agriculture, and they both had slaves. The (less poulated, more rural) South wanted to equalize their political power by adding 3/5ths more power (probably per slave owned), so 1+n(3/5). Sound familiar? The Electoral College was originally apportioned using the 3/5ths compromise. Sound familiar? The less populated states want more voting-power. Tumbleweeds get voting-power. Open land gets voting-power. People? People get unequal voting-power depending on what state they vote in.

And, the politicians in VA wanted the EC because they had the power with it. That's why so many presidents were from VA.
