well most hills, i keep the throttle steady just to make up for the loss of going up.but i am trying. u think spacing the hood up in the rear, with a washer or two would help with heat flow out of the hood lowering the under hood temps? and would help my fan clutches from heating up and locking together? cause i would like to do a abs plastic exterior grill block. and a inside block for the lower bumper. maybe a e-fan or one like this http://www.toyotacatalog.net/M1WebGe...A-118FDBCE2DDD
no wiring to worry about. what do u all think

get the lc fan and space the hood a liittle?

The Flex Fan might help and would be easy to do. I have converted a previous car from the engine driven fan to an electric fan kit. Around town with the windows down you can hear when it kicks in, or you could add a dash mounted LED to show when it's running.

I would be careful about spacing up the rear of the hood. That is a high pressure area (interior vents draw in high pressure air at the base of the winshield) and you may reduce airflow through the radiator instead of venting hot air out. Darin's metrompg.com site lists links to some studies about pressure testing for hood scoop placement that backs this up.

Taco,

do the E-fan mod, I believe you will notice the difference - grill block or not
mine was 7lbs of rotating madness on the front of the engine
& my little 2.2L does not need that kind of drag

Then revisit the grill block

I did an extreme grill block test first
(will attach the pictures if you promise not to laugh)
engine temp only went up ~20 degrees F
clutch fan got warm & grabbed hold - very much audibly louder

took 20-30% more throttle (by the scan gauge) to get to high way speed and 10% more to keep it there
it was my first real ecomod - I was dumbfounded and crushed

now with the electric fan I have no such problems - runs at least as cool as clutch fan
I have run almost a full grill block - with gap seals
it is hot out now (90-100F) so I have dialed back to what is shown in pic 2 just in case

yeah i know about the high pressure but i keep my vents on recir, and with the grill blocked there wouldnt be air going through there., i am still debating with my self, i got some thick water proof plastic that surrounds x-ray during transportation, i may attach that to the back. it is think and kinda solid.
i drive at night and my temps went up 10-15 deg during cruise. ait temp not coolent temp

that first pic is harcore.
