Matt,
Love your biz idea. Was thinking of starting something similar here in PA. Maybe a loose-knit group will surface, covering the whole country, with fellow eco-instructors sharing the knowledge in their own communities. Best of luck to you. Please keep us posted.
Erik

Where do you live in Eastern PA...philly/allentown area or scranton area? I grew up about 1 hour north of Scranton in Towanda, PA. Wish I could coast on those hills for my biz...pulled 27 mpg back in September on a trip home!

And it wasn't really hard to start the business...scanguage and 2 magnetic signs for the car...about $200...plus I already had plans to buy the scanguage anyway. I can give you the company I used for the signs...you design them online and they ship them to you.

Awesome Idea, Matt and best of Luck to you. I wouldn't worry too much gas WILL go back up. I liked $4/gal. People drove better.

The way I figure it no matter how much gas costs if a particular person wants to save fuel whether it costs $2 a gallon or $4 they are the target market for my business. At $4 a gallon I'd imagine my car signage would turn a few more heads but as long as I make enough to pay for the SG2 and the car signs I consider it a success!

In the spirit of the latest prez election and all their fancy charts...here's mine:
SG2 + Signs = $200
Income From Biz = $35
$165 from Goal
Upcoming training sessions:
1 on Friday, 2 on Saturday, Sunday at the car dealership for ride-along test drives with customers, 1 next Wednesday (repeat customer)!

Sounds like you're off to a great start. That's pretty good that you as the business owner get the $20. for the lessons and then if there are any tips you get those too. Sounds like a win win situation. You made an extra 25% on your first customer. Maybe you need to get a T-shirt "I accept TIPS". Just think another fringe benefit, maybe there'll be some nice looking women looking for lessons.

I met my first lesson about 2.5 miles from my house...which my SG2 told me cost me .40 to drive there so I'm trying to keep all my meeting places as close to my house as possible to maximize profits. 40 cents is not a big deal but I could imagine some lessons might be much farther away. My next few lessons are also within 5 miles of my house.

On Sunday, the car dealership my landlord runs is 20 miles from my house so I'll be paying a little more to reach customers. But, if I can sign up some of the test-drive people I'm riding with for lessons it's worth it...I'm not expecting much for people on test drives though as they are there to buy cars and not directly to save mpgs...I won't say never...I didn't know if my new biz would work either...stand by to stand by.

4 miles to work? I'd bike that! I might be able to go 1 12 gallon tank every 2 months that way
