Have fun, and money, in your new activity

About the name a personal preference would be to use the world "smart", ex : smart throttle, smart driver.

About tire inflation, I think it's a basic tip as it's needed to have long coast. Maybe that for beginners average between placard and sidewall is OK.

As your fuel log is documented, you should use it to teach the usefulness of the techniques.

Denis.

i thought about using the word smart...really like smart driver! but didnt want to step on any toes at ecomodder since the ecomodder slogan uses the word smart so much.

when i was trying to come up with a biz plan i wanted to make sure it separated itself from ecomodder even though i rely on the site heavily for info. ecomodder has worked so hard to establish themselves i didnt want them to feel like they were being put in harms way by me being part of their group and starting a biz related to the same topic as theirs.

when starting any biz where people pay u money u have to think of the negatives too and one would be crashing someones car while i was driving it. if im promoting the site and have a similar slogan or name it lends itself to guilty by association so im being careful to steer clear of any formal or informal assocation as a precaution. it may be a stretch but id hate to ever have anything bad happen in such a legal poo poo society.

Once you get some customers established that are regulars you could offer them a 10% discount if they can get better mileage than you. Make this an incentive for anyone that takes 5 lessons. That would give them the incentive to try harder when they are not taking lessons even if one beats you occasionally you still make $18. and it gives the customer a sense of accomplishment. Even though they are practicing between lessons so are you and part of your practicing will come at their expense while you're driving their car. That might get you more repeat customers and help get the word out. Tell them up front what your incentive is if they take 5 lessons. This is just a suggestion that I thought might be good for the business. Everyone likes a bargain and most people that really want to increase their FE would like the competition. The more you beat them the longer they feel like there is more to learn.

I used to teach defensive driving, and a license is required here if you're going to instruct for compensation. Something you might want to look into, so you're informed at least.

I wouldn't worry to much about the "smart" wording. Use it if you like it.

And all this time I've been giving lessons to those around me for free.
I like your concept.
If I can figure out as way to get another SG2 I may have to borrow your idea.
Unless you're planning on expanding into Dixie.
Good going and I wish you well.

How about;
No Bones Driving
Bare Bones Driving
Be Smart, Make no Boners Driving
Savin' Bones Driving

Just some silly ideas,
S.

If you are going to be using the scangauge in other peoples cars, you might want to rig up some portable power source for it... It would take too much time to install it over and over again.

It's funny, I was thinking that down the road I would start some sort of mod shop for aerodynamics in a year or two.. but your idea is great and has very little risk involved.

If I decide to try it I will let you know and maybe we can share ideas with each other to be more successful.

My biz idea is as far as I can go for customers. Any ecomodder that's fairly wrench-smart could take it a step further to build some basic mods like grill blocks, side mirror deletes, etc. I would start with one customer and let them be your advertising...eventually you might see a dozen or so cars in your town with mods...your own little mod fleet!

I'll keep you posted to let you know how my biz is going!

I thought the SG was a 1-wire affair to the OBD-II port? Or is the SG1 different from the SG2?

It's just a matter of hooking it up to the OBD port then inputting the information for your vehicle. It will have to be set up for each individual car for accuracy.
