I guess the survey was accurate.

When I was car shopping in 2013, I was looking for MPGs first and foremost. I wanted a Prius.

I wound up with the Civic because it alone of the hybrids I looked at had a manual transmission.

Sweetie: "But it's that unpleasant champagne gray color."
Me: "But it has a manual transmission."
Sweetie: "Oh, really? First one of those we've seen today. Let's take it for a spin."

The mere fact that she was driving an Aveo in the first place should have been a red flag.

More like the GTR and RAM didn't come in that shade of blue. I'm not sure she knew what MPG was, let alone how to calculate it. She's a sweetheart though.

BTW, the 2006 Aveo is rated 25 MPG for a 1.6L car. Fuelly says people were getting 27 MPG out of it compared to 32 MPG for the 1.8L Corolla.

Oh, it was. She bought the 2nd Aveo after asking me what she should do. I really liked her, but I can't have a woman that is more inclined to listen to a salesman than her rational boyfriend. I was a dummy and had to break up with her 3 times instead of my 1 and done rule.

Never thought driving a Geo Metro was "Getting in touch with my feminine side".

Eh, it is what it is.

If I had things my way, this is the driving position I'd assume for quick trips.

I'd have arse and feet on the same plane, but yeah.

This has the ultimate catbird seat. If GM mass produced these, there'd be one in every driveway:

My friend's mom and some of her friends (4 or 5 people total) went on a roadtrip 7 or 8 years ago. Friend's mom wanted to rent an Aveo because it was cheapest and had the highest MPG rating, friend tried to convince her to go a size up (can't remember what that would have been). They went with the Aveo and had a cramped trip in a car that could barely do the speed limit against the winds in Wyoming and ended up getting worse mileage than the larger car was rated for.

Had a coworker who had a ~2008 Aveo, seemed like it was always needing a little part here and there.

There are economy cars and there are cheap cars. I think we know which category the Aveo falls under.

I had a co-worker (last time I had a job) that had one. A screw was missing on a splash-guard behind the right rear wheel. I mentioned it to him repeatedly over a month or more, as a running joke. But he never replaced the screw.
