Recently I started modifying the tailsection of the Burgman scooter.
The final dimensions of the scooter are now:
Total length 265 cm.
Height without rider 130 cm
Height with rider (top of helmet) 158 cm
Width without handlebar covers 56 cm
Width including handlebar covers 73 cm
Overall with including mirror 77 cm

plating material is aluminum of 1 mm thickness screwed onto wooden structure.

The lockerspace is remodeled with 2 mm thick plastic (PETG) which can be easily made fit by using a industrial heater.Inside my datalogger box and vacuum pressure transmitter.

Looking good; will be interesting to see the FE the mods generate. I can't tell how the rear section opens, it looks like it pivets at the front.

Indeed the Suzuki seat pivots at the front. I used this for the rear section.

I am interested in a few additional dimesions, specificaly the width of the rear of the tail section where the tail light and the licence plate are mounted. also the width at the front of the tail section at the seat back? on my VT 500 the dimesions of tail section are width 18" [46cm], at the front and 0 at the rear, I plan to mount the licence plate in the same fashion as Craig Vetter; behind the riders head, on my other projects I will be squaring off the rear end like you have; 10cm wide for the CBR600 and 15cm wide on the KLR650, mostly to reduce the overhang behind the rear wheel.

Redyaris
My backseat width is 49 cm . From there I started with a radius of 200 cm until the side angle reached 10.3 degrees. From there it is straight ending in a width of 14.5 cm.
I did not go to zero for practical reasons. Handling in my garage of the bike and limiting the side surface for windy conditions.
Probably in case of a competition I would add the additional 42 cm and make a full tail.
regards

Based on what aerohead has suggested on the aerodynamic templet; that there may be no drag reduction beyond 80% of length mark, I suspect that something similar is true of our motorcycles/scooters. My guess is that a width at the rear between 5cm and 15cm is the point beyond witch there will be no reduction is drag resulting from a longer taper to 0cm. I will be building various tail sections to see...

I finalized the streamline by painting it.
I drive with doors when there is normal wind condition. In case of fierce side wind I take the doors out and put them in the trunk.

That has turned out very nice. Someday we will be able to walk into a dealer and buy something just as slick. How is the noise level inside your helmet?

I, till now did not really compare the noise inside the helmet in the modifyed version. But it is probably little bit higher than riding on a bike without streamline. What is your experience and thoughts about that.

My Honda CBR250R is pretty noisy around the top of the windscreen so I choose to ride with in ear canal phones as ear plugs if I am traveling faster than 90kph. I have a Zero Gravity Sport Touring windscreen on my Ninja250 which is much taller than stock. When I lay down behind that my head is completely inside the bubble and it is dead silent. It sounds the same as if you are just revving the engine in the parking lot. I mostly ride the Honda as it is much better on gas and the stock windscreen works well in the rain which is quite often where I live. If I position myself to look just over the top of the stock windscreen, very little rain stikes my visor and I can see quite well. I can ride the entire highway section of my commute without ever having to wipe my visor. It is a trade off of increased noise vs perfect visibility. I could add a higher piece onto the windshield of the Honda to make it quiet but then I would have to look through the rain that would be stuck to it.
