The intended handles are not, but there is a mechanical override which does open the door. Tesla warns against using that habitually as it might cause damage.
(from memory; I saw this in another youtube vid a month or so ago, so I cannot provide a link)

Musk is saying the ramp up to 10,000 Model 3's per week will happen very quickly; now that the production line is working well.

Also, Tesla is going to start building a new Gigafactory, that will be doing FULL production of cars - from materials to finished cars, for batteries and everything. This could double their production in as soon as 5 years.

From what Jack over at EVTV is saying, Elon has a kind of 'preferred' status in China. The Tesla Model S and the Tesla Model X are status symbols for those who have 'made it' ... and the Chinese government has exempted TESLA from having a chinese partner for production.

I'm sure that Elon could raise another few Billion $$$ with a couple more tweets ...

There is likely a bit of bias in Jack's report, but I can't find any holes in the facts as reported.

I took a spin in a co-workers Model 3 today. Nice car, peppy. I don't care for having all the controls in a touchscreen in the center of the dash.

Anyway, interesting story on his order. He has been on the list and got the notification to configure his car. He did and was told it would be ready in a month. A week later he got another call that the car was ready to be delivered.

Tesla has also opened up their orders again. If you want a high spec car you can order today and have it in a month.

Meanwhile there are 300K people that are waiting for a $35K base model car that comes with a $7500 tax credit.

Tesla is letting new customers bypass the line if they are willing to order a $50K Model 3.
