Well, if these poor people have a smart phone in their pocket, you can give them access to an autonomous taxi service. Uber has the inside track on that one.

I went to the welfare office here once. Everyone had the newest or second newest version of smart phone out at the time.
Poor people love their new cell phones and premium cell service.
So that wont be an issue.

We would do well, though, to remember the broker's disclaimer: Past performance is not a guarantee of future results.

Poor people can't afford taxis !
( It costs me $ 60 to go a few miles by taxi, and $ 2.50 by bus. ) Of course that same route takes 15 minutes by taxi, and an hour and 48 minutes by bus ... and then you have a 22 minute walk after you get to the drop off point in the hot Texas sun. )
My neighbor does the Uber thing. He charges half of the taxi fare, but still $ 30 just to go a few miles down the road ?
No. )

If they can charge half the fare by eliminating the dispatcher, imagine how it will affect the costs when the driver isn't needed at all.

Some do it to get exactly the reaction many have posted here. Some Prius drivers probably purposely do things to tick off people as well. EVERYTHING is politics these days. I don't know why people just can't get along and live and let live. There has been a big push lately to tell people how they must live. Just like a 19 year old will leave home and rebel at everything their parents told them, at some point people get sick of being told what to do and go out of their way to piss off those they think are pushing the agenda. Keep going on both sides and I hate to think of what my daughters will face when they are my age.
