Back here it seems easier to get the transaxle of any longitudinally-engined VW (or Audi) and simply revert its rotation. IIRC it's just one gear that needs to be mounted in the inverted position, like it was done while the Kombi used to be fitted with those hub-gears in the rear-end.

Sounds good. But as of now I'm just trying to get it running. I finally got to the point today to crank the engine over, but only to find a good puddle of oil underneath and zero oil pressure. I'm suspecting I didn't install the oil cooler correctly.

Who knows...

But anyway, even though I still like the VW air-cooled engine somehow, nowadays I'd rather get something water-cooled

At permalink #42 I pointed out that the NADA midbook was $8600 (in January of 2018). Midyear it dropped to $7800, the recovered. Currently it's $9150.

I don't want to sell before I can get the Arcimoto FUV, lest something jump up and eat the money I was holding. Do you still have yours?

Argentinians are still more favorable to vans, look at this Peugeot Traveller

Fiat Fiorino Qubo

A couple vans I was interested in in the past were the Toyota Previa and the Mazda5. The Previa was cool with it's mid-engine. And supposedly the supercharged models got better fuel mileage than the non-turbo models. I always wanted to build one with a supercharged engine and a standard transmission. Too bad the second generation and diesel Previas never made it to the USA.

The Mazda5 is cool in that it is almost a compact car in a van. It's really the only one in that class that ever made it to the USA. Some even came with 6 speed transmissions. Too bad the 7 seat versions never came to the USA.

The ultimate Previa would be an AWD supercharged five-speed unit with the Hot/Cool box and the Canadian dashboard with a tachometer.

Huh. The Mazda 5 always struck me as a mid sized car with third row seating, not a minivan.
