Looks like the C1 "only" achieved 4.1l/100km?

You can always install different gearbox or change the gears. But if you only change the fifth there will be huge gap in engine revs between gears. Specially in standard gearboxes if you put very tall fiftfh.

Lupo 3L gears are:
1st 3,455
2nd 1,955
3rd 1,182
4th 0,813
5th 0,642 and If I remember correctly that is freewheeling

Final drive 3,333
Crowheel is also driller full of holes to lighten it up and few other modifications to the gearbox.

With my winter tires 175/70R14 100km/h means 1890 rpm. For next summer I will definetely try in the front 155/80R15 which would give 1804 RPM which is right on the sweet spot .

2 liters is doable for sure its just up to the means and list of the modifications needed to achieve that target.

Yes I know but for now no one has made a 6th gear version for my car.
And since overall our speeds are fairly low in the US it won't bother me and with the planned torque, 235 Ft-Lbs (319Nm), this should present NO problem

I will be using a 5th gear of 0.622 and the R&P is (60/19) 3.16

Is your transmission code DSK on the '00 Lupo?

ETKA indicates for the DSK transmission:

1st: 38/11 = 3.4545
2nd: 43/22 = 1.9545
3rd: 39/33 = 1.1818
4th: 39/48 = 0.8125
5th: 34/53 = 0.6415

R&P: 60/18 = 3.3333

SO yep that matches ETKA info!

When you say "crowheel" what are you referring to? Crown wheel? Whatever it is have you had it balanced AFTER drilling holes in it? or is it drilled at factory? Sometimes balancing is more important than weight loss.

I learned a lot about the Lupo 3L from these:

That crowwheel was from Lupo 3l brochure if I remember correctly. It sure does not mean that you would not get enough acceration with that torgue.

Transmission code in Lupo 3L should be DS085 shorter code can be comething else like that DSK. Regular lupo and polos have that 085 if I had understood correctly.

Found it yes "crown wheel"

Yeah I should be ok with the torque for sure

The codes that identify the actual gear ratios and such is always a three LETTER code on VWs (and the others in the VAG family) as is the engine codes, is your engine code "ANY"? Not sure what the 085 is but I assume it is the same as the 020, 02A etc which could be called the family code more or less refers to outer casings and bolt patterns and such.

P.S. Ok yes I saw the "085 electronic gearbox" reference now in the PDF, as well as the "the crown wheel was drilled" statement, so yes factory done.

My 130HP Polo TDI has 1500rpm @ 100km/h :-)

... the car has the OEM Gearbox with 6 gears. The gearbox code is FSM. I think this is the longest gearbox ever built in the VW concern.

Who have lower rpm's @ 100km/h ? :-D

Ok let's see

FSM 6th gear: 34/45 = 0.7555
Hmm the final gear (differential) is shown to be 65/22/27 looks like there
is two different gearing ratio options?

What size tires does your Polo have?

I put in the 65/27 and 34/45 into my excel file and I just stuck with the 185 60 14 I happened to have in there for tire size (stock size for my project car) and came up with 98km/h and my project car will only do 91km/h at same 1500rpm (all this is theory only though)

Yes, the EU4 PD130 has a much shorter gearbox! (2000rpm @ 100km/h)
And I have the efficent PD130 with EU3

At the moment I have the tire size 195/55 R15. In future I wanna install 175/65 R15 for better aerodynamics and a bigger outline. Or 165/65 R15, but it could be difficult with my 310NM++ torque

Yeah I already dug up all this info from my catalogs the 310Nm and 195 55 15 so 3% different from my calculations that covers the 2km/h slower I got since indeed your tires would do less revolutions

Now what l/100km numbers are you seeing? I am very interested in what you're getting or have achieved since I will be going that way too (meaning 1.9L and high TQ instead of 1.2L 3 cyl, as mentioned mainly due to availability here, meaning I'd LOVE to have the 1.2) also since I will have next into identical torque as you do. Your car weighs...let's see (cheating with my 05/06 world car catalog ) 1215Kg (right?)

I am also interested to hear what fuel consumtion figures cycleracer gets from your Polo with those low RPMs. Can you give more exact specs about the car and what is the price in germany for such car.

lupo2L is progressing. Winter is ending and fuel consumption is getting better. I have manufactured new glasfibre drivers seat (about 5 kg I will weight it today) and mold for hood. Cars inspection is two weeks from now and after that hell brakes loose with my modifications. More power is coming, exhaust pipe will be moved to back and lots of weight losing.

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=1&theater

That is the goal. 2l/100km or 117 MPG us @ 100km/h or 62 MPH. After that speed the chart is not very accurate but that top speed should be true if calculator is correct .
