Other unecessary stuff will go also.

I have added some WS2 to engine and transmission oils. This has helped the car to coast further.

Installed evo 2.0 smooth undertray with intergrated diffusor.

Been asking offer on custom ECU mapping and lets see if I get a deal and how soon they get the car under ECU tuning.

Still not ready biggest factors to reach that 2 liter mark:

- Lower and stiffer suspension
- ECU remapping
- Taking off that weight, but this is under construction
- Few aero tweaks coming

Have you talked to Mark Malone?
Malone Tuning Ltd.

He did the sipster project also.

Please remind me: Do you want to get down to 2 l/100km in everyday driving, or at a specific speed? In the latter case weight doesn't really play that much of a role, maybe increases RR a bit.
On the other hand some extra weight may help with P&G.

target is 2liter fuel consumption at 100 km/h average speed so while using 100% push and glide technigue 95 to 110 km/h. Push will be under 3.4 seconds and glide 16.6 secods or with same percentage difference. So same results will follow with 1.7 second push and glide 8.3 seconds or something between. So the target is not with everyday driving but I targets gets bigger during projects. Ofcourse the tank average consumption will be easily closer to two liters or 100 MPG because you cannot drive 100 km/h speeds or 62 MPH normally the whole tank in finland.

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=3&theater

ECU will be tuned for Neste green diesel which cetan value is 54-56 when its in finnish normal diesel 50-51. Tuning will be done most likely one the finnish best diesel tuners called Karala.

Edit: Will make tomorrow some test run to test the cars current performance FE wise. It should be able to get close to previous best or maybe even better. Only worst mod is at the moment stock mirrors in place.

But improvents since last november are:
Better undertray
better exhaust piping
Big kammback spoiler
few minor tweaks here and there, like those oils...

Video of making the undertray:

I think there is few pictures with that kammback on from last year .

Project has moved quite a bit in the last two weeks.

I have stripped out the interior and saved about 50 kg of dead weight.
Installed some exhaust back pressure gauge and taken out the EGR system.

Tomorrow will go to see adjustable lowering spring kit.

That ECU tuning seems to be difficult to find man for the job. Everyone is busy with race cars on the summer :/.

Coilover suspension is installed and adjusted to 80-90mm ground clearance from the lowest point. 140mm to side sills. Rear is slightly higher.

Car seems to get again little bit better figures. Wheel angles will be adjusted next wednesday. At the moment there is way too much camber...

Today received two Super B 5200 litiumion batteries for testing if they have enough power for startup.

super B 5200 Lightweight Lithium Ion starter battery, specially developed for motorcycles, jet-skis, snowmobiles, ATVs and Quads

Hi Vekke,
How did you get on with the lithium batteries?
You could try installing some supercapacitors across the battery to help with startup and the longevity of the actual battery.

Litium ion batteries come from this project:
Flynano
They changed to more powerful batteries and those were leftovers...

Removing EGR system helps to lower pumping losses in full throttle mode. So when I am doing P&G driving I will get best efficiency. In a TDi there are this kind of system on the intake:

That aint designed properly for good flow. I might design my own EGR system that is not blogging the intake when being open like that system does. IMO that is just bad engineering on VW side.

That is true that EGR warms up the engine faster and lowers NOx fumes in part throttle. You can also lower NOx by installing a water injection. Water injection also increases power if you inject metanol (windscreen washing fluid) or something else that is flammable. When you install water injection you don`t need intercooler anymore which also restricts air flow.

I will install water injection and will make my pressure pipes from copper to transfer heat.

Engine you can make warm faster by making that grill block and insulating the engine. At the moment it takes about 20-30 km of driving to get my engine to 90 celsius. But if you are driving with P&G mode your fuel consumption is still 0.5 liters at gliding in neutral.
