In commemoration of my resuming the building of a rat rod, here's a picture of the car with the front suspension replaced with a hovercraft skirt. The 'sternwheeler' rear tires would provide propulsion and steering.

I want to get a old Ford F100, put a 5.0L Coyote motor with a 3.4L Whipple blower in it, 2011 A6 Ford trans (6 speed auto), tub it out…….and go full on steam punk with the look. The truck would be for looking cool and doing big nasty rolling burnouts.

I want to make a portable parallel PHEV pack for my Insight, using 36 10Ah LiFePO4 cells for just under 120V (the voltage of the 2nd gen Insight pack hovers between 99 an 122 volt, but usually sits around 107 Volt).
Portable so I can charge it at home and at work, and cheap enough to carry financially too.
I'm thinking of using 3 '36 V' (=~ 38.4V ) 10Ah EV bike packs in series, as they come with BMS and chargers and installing them would be relatively easy.
If I can use the 1.2 kWh fully on each commute (twice daily) I'd save over a liter a day. ROI within 2 years. Crazy, or maybe not?

This is REALLY close to mine (dream car) - early 60s Caddy with either a Duramax Diesel or a Cummins Diesel. Stupid lowered suspension, massive brakes, O/D transmission, something like 18" wheels, numerically low rear end gears .....
And, of course, a stupid stereo.
And I am WAY too old to justify any of this.
Still want it though.

I have a 1957 210 Four Door Wagon, old school hot rod.

Not as heavy as they look. Curb weight I would guesstimate at 3300lbs? Most of today's mid size cars are about equivalent in weight.

I still vote for a Detroit Diesel 2-stroke.

The past few weeks, I've been toying with the idea of picking up a cheap early Miata and turning it into an SCCA Prepared car with a built NA motor, stripped interior, aerodynamic modifications, the works. Wouldn't be outrageously expensive, and I think it would be a blast to drive and compete with.
