I hadn't said anything yet, but here's my list:
- Keep all my winter tanks above 65 mpg. Accomplished.
- Bring my lifetime average to 60 mpg. 2 more tanks should do it.
- 1000 miles on a single tank. I'm working on this now. I need 80 mpg with the 12.5 gallons max I've ever put in the tank. I'm currently at 78 mpg and 437 miles, needing to bring it up a bit. It will be my best tank yet, even if I don't reach the Kilo mark.

Once you have patent protection, will you be able to post the project progress on EcoModder? I'd definitely like to follow it.

Here is the patent, it arrived today.
Step 1, intellectual property now exists and can be licensed or sold outright.
You can read the complete document by searching under the patent number.
Of course that is the information that was submitted on April 24, 2007. The protection period is 20 years from that date, when I will be 76.5 years old.
regards
Mech

For my 2007 Accent I am looking to make a grille block (perhaps in autumn?), get new spark plugs (part of my regular maintenance but hey, it would probably help), and perhaps create some sort of belly pan.
I am also hoping to get a 40mpg tank this summer. Last summer my best was 37mpg but that was before I knew a lot of the eco-modding techniques and before I had a scangauge, plus I used A/C.
Do modifications such as a grille block or belly pan create any warranty worries? I know they shouldn't but say something were to go wrong in the engine in the next 5 years....could they just look and see a grille block and then be like "aha! You made a modification, you voided your warranty!" If there's even a remote chance of that sort of thing happening, I might just wait to do those mods until much later.

1108 miles, 13.82 gallons = 80.2 mpg.

1.3gal more than you've ever put in before... how far did you go after the gas gauge hit E?
At the rate I'm going, my goal of a 1000 mile (100mpg) tank while speeding will require a LONG stretch of road with a 35mph speed limit and no stop signs. My goal of 70 mpg lifetime average while speeding has also been elusive.
Driving style > mods. At least, that's what I say pre-boattail. I also know the two are cumulative.

98 miles past E, counted from when the warning light is on more than it is off.
Lower mileage that last bit, about 70 mpg average. That's 1.4 gallons past E.
