That's just something I read somewhere, and have no proof either way. When pulsing I just floor it, instead of searching for 80LOD in the ScanGauge. But I hardly ever go past 2k rpm. Last week I saw 4k for the first time in months, but this guy in a Passat, who suddenly stopped for no reason when exiting an intersection, and...

EDIT: I mentioned earlier that when the DPF is regenerating the ECU turns the rear window and side mirror heaters on to increase the engine's load. I just found out that the glow plugs are also turned on for the same reason.

BMW drivers - I forgot you had a 318 - I was of course referring to the always silver repmobile specials that seem to use magnets to attach themselves to your rear bumper. However Helga says

The in gear acceleration times are 50-70 mph in 5.6 seconds, quicker than BMW's 330i which takes 6.0 seconds. 20-40 mph in 2.4 seconds is as quick as the Lotus Elise 111R. Despite this the Fabia vRS can achieve better than 6.2 L/100 km (46 mpg-imp; 38 mpg-US). If driven carefully some drivers have experienced MPG rates of 65-70 mpg over long periods. The Fabia VRS has a top speed of approximately 130 mph (210 km/h).

Of course as soon as we come to a corner you will sail round in full control and we will just topple over The Fabia VRS is a one-trick-pony. But it does that trick quite well

The Italian tuning on the Autobahn last September didn't really help in the long run either.

I'll catch up with you at the next traffic light or yield sign.

No.
There's usually a small shudder when it starts.
Instant fuel consumption changes (+ or -).
The intake temp. rises above 50°C on the ScanGauge (the intake is heated).

Since the software update, the car continuously shudders again when on CC during the regeneration.
That kind of shuddering had been cured during the 80.000km service

You would not be a moron unless you are tailgating me I rarely go over 65 these days so I suspect you would be ahead most of the time.

So they have cured the symptom but not the problem.

LOL! I was just joshing with ya- Know that helga would beat me no bother in a straight line

As for the MG Metro- there's a reason I prefer 6pot BMWs

Pinoslaw- I just remembered vaguely what you said- wasnt meaning to say it as gospel..

From what I recall, the HDi lump is pretty breathless over 3000rpm.

I was just suggesting that euromodder gave the car sufficient heat to keep DPF regen at bay at least once a day?

It gets a good workout on the on-ramp to the motorway.
It gets a healthy dose of motorway traffic, so it's not like I'm driving around the church as we tend to say here.

The problem didn't exist in the early life of the car.
Something must be causing it, and that something needs to be sorted !

Last year I decided I'd keep the car for another 5 years.
So I put in cruise control, GPS, got winter tyres and a new set of wheels and summer tyres for it - the tyres will probably last those 5 years.
That's a fair amount of money that I'd rather not give up - and I won't get it back when selling the V50.
