Darrell over there with the SentraSE-R tag is often right, man. But you can do more mitigating than just the logging. Watch your tire pressure, which will tend to drop in the winter, obviously. Try as much as possible to avoid night driving (why do I think I just made you laugh twice?). It's gonna be dark in Alberta soon. But don't you think you could adapt more? Your coming problem is about denser, colder air and shorter daylight. A block heater, that aero mod maybe you have put off, some LED brakelights... I forget, are you running a WAI?

I should get two or three more refuels before w____.which should get me into the gas car 90 day top Ten mpg for a week or so before reallity hits home.

How is 90C [194F] for warm air intake? It's normaly around 60C [140F] the 90C temp was due to a very long steep hill. As for tire pressure that gets checked and adjusted to max sidewall 44psi, when installing snow tires, in early October when the ambiant temps are more winter like. As to avoiding driving in the dark that would require a big winning lottary ticket [odds = 14,000,000:1].
I am hoping that even though the percentage drop due to winter will be the same, the new higher numbers will mean higher winter numbers.

Well, even though the life time 50 mpg is still a long way off I can console my self until then with making it to the top ten 90 day mpg gas car list, at 59.75 mpg and #8 on the list. I can make it to 63 mpg with LOG ing and if nobody ahead of me gets any better soon I could make it to #4. We shall see?

Impressive fuel economy, Red.
WAIs don't help MAF-equipped cars, per these test results.

The flaw in Sentra's testing of a WAI is the climate in the region where he conducted the test.
Try it in 20 below temps and give us your results.

I agree that the test results are too small of a sample to draw a general conclusion about warm air intakes. The test itself is a rellavent sampling in that it shows that in areas with high ambient temps the under hood temps are high enough to eliminate the benefits of WAI. I have varefy that myself when I sealed off the rear of the engine bay hood [...better aero...] and took the hose off of the above exhaust hot air collector and stuffed it into the corner of the engine bay on a hot [30*C] summer day and the intake air temp on the scanguage only dropped a few [less the 5*C] degrees. I did this because I emagined that the intake air was getting to hot. Winters here get down to minus 20*C or colder so during cold weather WAI may still provide a FE benefit.

Some of the scales have no office house, are not staffed and are used by truckers so that when they do have to go over one that is staffed they know they are within the wt limit. On the ones that are staffed I find that if they are not busy, and you ask first they are ok with it.

I only want to add that I also ran a test of a WAI, a version of my current, and found it worked: http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...tml#post233571. A difference between my test and Sentra-SE-R's was his car has the MAF sensor and mine a MAP sensor.

If I look at our three tank mpg numbers as a guide, they are both in the 63.xx range so the outcome [who will get to a higher mpg number] will be so close that the margin of error will be larger than the diference in mpg.
