You know it's cold when you have to search to find your pants.
( Plenty of shorts though )

Thanks, Piwoslaw, I was wondering where our winter went. At the top of the Great Plains in Canada, all but maybe a week has been 10C higher than average for months. The snow keeps melting a bit, when it usually blows around loose for a week before the sun can catch it.

Piwoslaw - you can keep it!! There was an article in the local paper today about the cold snap in your part of the world.

Eastern Ontario: we're in our 8th or 9th month of above average temps. This winter has been a bust. Milder is nice, but this winter it's meant more ice than snow (I'd rather have the snow... well I'd really rather have t-shirt weather ).

Oh, can I? Thank you!

I saw -40° on the car again this morning, but it looks like the cold spell is going elsewhere - next week will be 'only' -10°C/-16°C day/night.

This cold front actually came after a few very warm months: Autumn 2011 saw almost no rain and until the mid-January almost no freezing temperatures.

So how is starting the diesel at -40?

Coming our way next allegedly - the South East of the UK (London etc.) is going to get a few inches of slow too - which means the country will be paralysed even though the rest of us will probably cope OK.

-12 is as low as it goes here.

Holy smoke.
I've only seen -13°C here - though it's been -19° C.

Car still starts like a charm without extra preheating on a 6.5 y/o battery.
(it starts preheating the moment I open the door though)

I hope your -40 doesn't decide to come over here.

It's normal to have at least some -40F in northern MN, but IIRC the lowest so far this year has been -20. Nah... don't miss it, you can have it. Let's hear it for global warming!

I think it hit 57 here today, rode the bike 40+ miles to look at a 95 Honda CX for $800 with 170k miles.

Riced out bondoed up POS, side skirts and fiberglass aero kit trashed. Only redeeming factor was no rust.

Passed.

regards
Mech
