a mainers point of view...

you know when its cold when you got a heater for the heater.

you know when its cold when the top third of the warm room is a phosphourescent white fog.

you know when it is cold when you jimmy rig plastic covers to fill in the electrical outlets....6 feet away is not enough to stop the frigid hurricane coming out of them.

..when you leave the house you have all your teeth, when you finally warm up again, an epiphany a few went missing.

..spitting blood after the same simple adventure, outside work to in...

... The car radiator air dam suffocates the thin air to the point of no heat anyway...let it have it.

... tires pounce thier way to flat after a WOT run.

When you spit, and it freezes before it hits the ground. Kinda makes a cracking sound, and sounds like sleet when it hits.

This happens at about 40 below zero.

'Course, no one with common sense would actually want to test this...

...a WRT54G V3 runs stable at its maximum power setting of 251mW... (Going below freezing will do that. Still need to up the voltage to get a good signal, though.)

This is no joke....when I was a mail man it would get so cold IN THE MAIL TRUCKS, that my coffee would freeze in my drink holder on the dash and when I pulled rubber bands off of the bundled mail they would not regain their shape...just look like strung out thing noodles! Their huge windows would not help matters at all. They also have aluminum radiators so they don't overheat in the summer...great for race cars, but sucks in the winter. In the summer on a 80 degree day the interiors would hit over 150 degrees using the temp gauges that I use at the drag strip...in the shade too!

Just think of how cold it could be if we did not have global warming.......he said tongue in cheek!

You know it's cold when your utility company has rolling black outs due to cold weather.

You know it's cold when you spend 2 days covering + heating Orange trees.

You know it's cold out when polyester gelcoat hardens like a rock without ever opening the can.

You know it's cold out when lacquer flows like Molasses.

You know it's cold out when your Whatt's Up Indicates that your car battery has an effective capacity of 10 Amp hours and battery only has 4 volts left after test. Well, Ok that battery was toast anyways.

You know it's cold when even though you are an EcoModder you consider going out and starting your TDI just to see if it will start.

You know it's cold out when you are running strait Diesel for the second tank this year.

Mine run stable at 251 No problem, the receive sensitivity goes in the toilet . . .
But then again I do have North bridge heat sinks on mine though.

How do you increase the voltage on the radios?

Reconnect the output circuit to its own voltage regulator. The official specification lists the maximum operating voltage for the chipset is 3.6v. The regulator (LDO from the 5v supply) I put in will go up to about 4v. For the record, it was set as high as it goes and it survived the tests. I'm sure it will degrade much faster than stock, but that's generally true of any serious overclocking.

True story from last week's hiking trip.
You know it's cold when...
...You're hiking in the mountains. Snow, very cold. Two hikers:
- I think my boot may be a little too loose.
- Why don't you tighten it?
- The laces are frozen stiff.

A few more I forgot...at least, I may have posted, can't remember.
you know when its cold when..
* you need teeth protectors and ear plugs to keep safe from the noise of studded snow treads at 18 below and 75 mph...
* when you look out the window to the perfect sound you hear vividly, a truck close by... but the highway is over a mile away...
* at 3am jump up suffocating to the cold draft that got into your lung...like a cat to a babies face...in your nice warm room.

This year has been freaky warm for maine. Barely below zero for a few nights.
Above is clayton lake, I monitor that more than the weather forecast. They get bangor wrong wrong wrong always warmer than it isn't or vice versa....it is horrifying how wrong they get it sometimes.
I hope to get at least a one night 15 below, got some welds that need immortalized.

You know it's cold here when the rain hitting your car freezes to ice while you're driving. In Buffalo, NY (used to live there) that was normal. Here in SC, it's doomsday. Whatever, unlike everybody else equipped with a credit card, there's a giant ice scraper in my Buick's trunk.

I'm from California. What's this "cold" of which you speak?

Oh, it did snow today. Lightly.
