ok, to end this i'll just state this. being in the navy i move every 3 years or so, and having a small car isn't conducive to ease in moving around.

YKYAEM if you talk to a ricer and explain why his rear wing is useless due to the detached airflow from the roof being too turbulent to do any good

You're right, merging is difficult for many drivers. But that's what makes a smooth merge just so satisfying.

See, I don't get this - why not adjust your speed and let people in even if they are numpties ? What do you win, a shiny badge ?

In fact why is merging so hard ? If you are on the road people are joining how hard can it be to move over, or if that is busy just slow down or speed up to open a gap and let someone in ? If you are using cruise at this point maybe you shouldn't be. RTFM.

Equally if you are joining and people are slowing to open a gap, don't bl@@dy well slow down as well.

(By 'you' of course I mean the metaphorical concept of 'a driver' not anyone specific here... )

/RANT.

that is the main problem with people around here, they don't understand the concept of matching speeds to merge. they also get complacent with the locals not slowing down to give them a gap to merge into, so they instinctively slow to line up with a gap, even though i already slowed down to give them one. i just don't care anymore, i drive the way i drive and make them avoid me, obviously if it's a Semi-Truck i'll move out of the way

...it's ASSERTIVE driving skills versus AGGRESSIVE driving skills.

...assertive relies upon 'merging'...aggressive relies upon 'taking'
