It's not silence - It's listening to how everything in your car is working - engine rpms & load, wheel bearings, dragging brakes, etc.

EOC without radio on... (some vehicles have ignition switch-w/radio on ON only).
And with the knowledge of saving fuel at any/most opportunities!

That is what ECO-MODDING is: going farther in the LEAST amount of fuel, adjusting whatever needs, to do that the best way.

I do listen to the radio most of the time, but I agree some stretch of radio-off time does help not only listening for potential problems, but getting your best driving done without looking at a display which takes your eyes off the road.

Just finished watching the movie/documentary "Revenge of the Electric Car"
Great inside INFO on Nissan-LEAF, GM-VOLT, Tesla Motors.
With Danny de Vito(in person) having his EV1 taken from him, a car he liked the BEST!

Get it, worth it and fulfilling!

YKYAEM when you cringe as you remove a mere 3 in^2 (19.4 cm^2) from your grill block, hating the aero penalty, but needing the cooling

Yes it does! Not much directly, I can say from experience that music can make u drive less efficiently, due to the beat!
