Just made a quick trip to ATL to pick a friend up at the airport. I was in my wife's car with the cruise on at the speed limit. Going down I85 at 70 MPH, having people cut me off trying to take my bumper off and flicking me off, while there is a T storm advisory for the area. Maybe people are just friendlier in the rural parts!

i'd say people are frendlier in rural parts. in my city of about 200k people, everyone is always in a hurry so even when i'm not hypermilling they are trying to pass me just because i'm not racing to a red light

People are also a lot slower in the rural parts. I just got done with a 70-mile trip through rural state roads and I kept getting stuck behind cars that were going 5-10 mph below the speed limit. And the speed limit was 55!

YKYAHM when...
... You do all your driving at such speeds, and accelerate at best BSFC, that you use 5th gear only for gentle engine braking.
... You go to a shop to repair a flat tire and the guy keeps repeating that your brakes need to be replaced because there are hardly any signs of usage on the rotors, so there must be something wrong with them. After seeing that he just doesn't understand what you're trying to explain about efficient driving, low speeds, coasting, engine braking, etc., you just shut up and smile and tell him it's a risk you are willing to take.

YKYA ecommodder if spend money to increase your mpg.
The payback time could take years but the instant mpg improvement is worth the wait.

On the few times that I do go faster I still P&G, EOC... I suspect that I could still get EPA numbers while speeding on some roads!

You can. I used to get EPA numbers while really tearing it up and always being on the turbo. Now that I'm "only" speeding I'm doing a lot better.

YKYAHM when...
... You read a news title "Driver gets beat up for going too slow" and your blood pressure rises. It turned that two drunks beat up a bus driver, so I'm safe for now.
