The point is really for health care professionals that interact with sick people, and sick people to wear masks. A mask on a healthy person is next to pointless.

Well aerosol filtration is poor, but droplets can get caught in the media easily, so it does something. The less viruses you breathe in, the lower chance some of them are viable or something like that.

An idea I saw 2 weeks ago was soaking filters in salt water to increase its efficacy, since the salt would help catch some viral particles (I know salt accelerates lipid oxidation and coronaviruses are lipid coated, but I have no idea if this happens fast enough to have an effect).

Right, which is why a mask is 55% effective (and much of that has to do with preventing a person from touching their face).

How many people are sneezing uncovered within 6 feet of you? That's the danger. The danger mostly mitigated by the sick person wearing a mask.

I'm not saying a mask is ineffective, just that the people who most benefit are either contagious, or on frequent contact with sick people. Most of the other mitigation strategies don't require a mask (don't touch your face, don't get sneezed on within 6 feet).

A bandana for a healthy person is going to provide 95% efficacy as a mask.

At least as effective as the other masks. It provides 2/3rds protection. Eyes are protected and you can't touch your face.

From what I have read, Vietnam had cases popping up, and they're playing whack a mole by quarantining neighborhoods with cases, and widening the cordon if they don't feel confident.

Looking at ALL the dusted turbocharger compressor blades, K&N filters don't stop a whole lot of anything.

If you need sterile, learn how the pro's do it and replicate THAT. Be advised it's costly and time consuming, right now some of the parts are unavailable.
