2010 MPG totals and 2011 MPG goals

My goal for 2010 was 48 mpg.
Fell a little bit short with a total of 47.81 mpg.
Still kicks arse for a Cobalt.

Winter tanks killed me, was over 48 mpg till the last three tanks but had to drive out of state for X-Mas.
Doubt the family would have taken to kindly to "I'm not coming to Christmas cause my mpgs would drop below 48 for the year".

Despite missing this years goal I'm going to raise the bar for 2011 to 49 mpg avg.

How has everyone else faired in 2010 and what goals is everyone setting for 2011?

EDIT: Got OCD and filled up New Years Eve for accuracy.

My goal for this year is to just get my damn Metro up and going reliably ( I have only had it for 9 days). so far I have yet to get concrete numbers because of a fuel leak, but it seems to be averaging 38-40 mpg after having leaked out an indeterminate amount of fuel. For next year I hope to average 50 mpg using it for pizza delivery.

(Note: the car sees 100% city driving and is EPA rated at 37 mpg city)

My goal this year is to stick to measuring my MPG's on every tank. I started doing it with the Altima but it didn't last long. New rig for the new year, would like to see over 50mpg, fingers crossed.

In 2010 I barely achived my goal of a 50mpg commute.
In 2011 I would like to have a bunch more than just one 50mpg commute and I am going to try and achieve a 55mpg commute.

2010 I went from 36-36 MPG to 42-46 MPG

Next year I want to go to 45-50 MPG.

To do that I will need more mods. I am toying with a boat tail but not sure I want to foot the bill.

In 2009 I reached 44 MPG over 90 days. My goal for 2010 was to reach 45 MPG average over 90 days, but I didn't make it for the right reasons (family and work stuff). Soooo, that's my goal for 2011.

My goal at the beginning of 2010 was to get above 30MPG for a tank (I wasn't driving much, a tank to myself was extremely rare), and I ended up averaging 30.24

My goal for 2011 is to average 32MPG (33.33% over EPA), and hit 35MPG for at least one tank. Both of these goals are/were for the Camry, as my mom is the main driver of the Sonata.

I also hope to get it so the family are driving little enough that we only need to fill each car once a month (as they both have 70L tanks, it'll be harder in the Sonata than the Camry).

This thread made me look at my MPG data for the last two years (thanks Ecomodder fuel log spreadsheet function!).

In 2009 I maintained a 43.63 MPG for the year :

In 2010 I dropped to 43.06 :

The big hit was a portion of time where I commuted to work. However, technically we were taking a car off the road and two people were in the car, so the "Eco-MPG" could be interpreted as being "twice" the actual MPG.

When I play data-games with the 2010 MPG, I see that it is plausible that I could have achieved a 44 MPG average for the year. Because of this I think I can achieve my goal of 44 MPG in 2011.

I went from 5.39 L/100km in 2009 to 5.23 L/100km in 2010.
Not a huge difference, only 3%.

But looking at the 2nd half of 2010 (I joined ecomodder in July), I'm down to 5.00 L/100km or 47mpg - by coincidence, that's actually the car's rated fuel consumption. That's 7% less, despite some technical issues.

I'm actually getting nearly 47mpg on winter tyres in the cold through more changes in driving behaviour, so I wonder what mpg summer will bring.
