As far as a single controller for twin motors - I seem to remember that if the controller varies the amperage (rather than the voltage) it will work correctly.

The point was not so much that the motors are twin, but that the controller and single CAN bus operate everything electrical. It does have a separate hydraulic foot brake.
I found this:
This is probably a large part of the weight reduction (I can't find the figure but it was hundreds of pounds) down to 1023lb.
It won't be me but someone should do one with scaled-down Indian motorcycle fenders, the Indian-bust fender lights with LED DRLs, one big Cyclopean headlight and black leather saddle bags with fringe and chrome buttons.

Replying to myself to bump the thread.
I went across town and put down a deposit on an SRK8 to reserve a place in line. They are taking 5 deposits a day and the rate is increasing. I have 6-8 months to divest my vast VW holdings (cars, spare motor, wheels & parts) to cover the base price.
I met four more people. They're nice folks and thet're happy about what they are doing.

Awesome. If I didn't already have an Elio reservation... and that price is a bit on the high side for me right now. (Could almost afford a used Volt with $12k)

Any sane person would be looking for an off-lease Leaf or Volt, they are in that price range—two years into an expected 7-8 years battery life.
But I have an additional agenda, which is to pit crew at Bonneville Salt Flats in the next 1-3 years. I started out wanting to enter the 36hp Challenge, which is open to 36hp VW engines. But I figure it would be less work (always important to me) to use an SRK as a base for a full envelope teardrop body. The one aerohead would help me test in the Darko wind tunnel next September.
Also magnetic drive. I'm not interested in another gas engine. Electricity is 5¢/kilowatt-hour here.

The Elio is projected to cost less, but you will have so much more time to save for it!
