Yes... The benefits are the same as winter, easyer starting, takes less fule to reach operating temp. I use my factory block heater in summer some times (when I realize that I am going somewhere early enough )

My truck will reach aprox 80-90°f in mild winter and 135°f in summer 80-90°f ambant. Down in Las Vegas, Nevada it would read 113°f before starting, no plug.
Just .be shure if it is a remote (in-line instead of in the block) that its not over heating it self. A frind of mying hear in Montana, installed a remote on his full size Ford Bronco went in the heater line and had an internal Circ pump that failed . So now it will boils off the water and gets hot enough to burn the paint off the outside of the heater. I had expected convection to keep it supplied with -20°F water. But his heater core is a high point ,both lines go downhill to the engine trapping air in the unit

Do your fellow northerners use "parking heaters"? https://www.eberspacher.com/products...d-heaters.html

Got a definite answer to that. I fired up the OBD reader to check the temp before starting the engine, the engine temp was 85F with a hour of using the block heater

This'll be a nice thing when combined with a battery charger

Also, I've been in the process of planning a multifueled two-wheel tractor.

The tractor itself would run on gasoline or ethanol while using tools in the yard.

And then i'd make a wood gas unit that'll fit on a small trailer.

There is a plenty of engines on the market. It'd be easiest to use some small motorbike engine coupled with a gearbox and drive the wheels with a chain.

A friend's friend has a 112 for sale, a lot of things done on it.

It might also have a bigger engine than my War Wagon. But almost every 112 has a 16V head.

The consumption is a bit bigger, but I think the body type has a lot of potential for aero mods.

For some reason these Vazs are starting to grow on me, they remind me alot of my old Citröen ZX, now that was a car I loved and loathed in equal amounts at the same time.

I can see your dilemma as it does look aero moddable.

How much difference is there in the consumption ?

the 16v 1.6 is a thirstier engine. but I wonder if it's just because the 1.6 seems to use the same air filter. (aka needs intake mods)

the 1.5 16v breaks valves if the cam belt breaks, but is very economic.

1.5 8V doesn't brake due to the piston being shaped for valves

and the 1.6 16V has enough clearance so the valves don't break.

Have you already figured out if their engines are based in the 124-series (same used in earlier Brazilian Fiat cars) or the 128-series engines (known here as Sevel or "Argentinian" engine)?

Googled around a crapton, it was developed in-house with the assistance of Porsche designing the head.
