I already know.
When maine Yankee died it's final death supposedly people's power bills jumped 20 to 25% in a few months. I wasn't living in maine then but people were complaining about it when we moved there, power was about the same as what we were used to in Virginia so no big deal to us.
Then when VT Yankee shut down people's bills jumped by up to 50% and some were saying their bills more than doubled. Everyone was freaking out this past summer when the far higher bills started coming in.

If they want to lower their standard of living for the privilege of feel good electricity, let them.

In NM my base rate is 7 to 8 cents a kwh. On my bill total kwh used versus $ charged I'm at about 10 to 11 cents per kwh.

It takes a special kind of stupid to not understand the difference between a fuel pile fission reactor and a particle accelerator.
I thought the only society capable of supporting people that stupid was the United States.
I guess "anything nuclear is bad" transcends all languages and cultures.

Update... Alta Devices new record it's 28,9% now (since july of 2018) :

https://www.altadevices.com/alta-dev...ciency-record/

That 28,9% it's for thin solar film, and for dual junction it's 31,6% : https://www.altadevices.com/about-overview/

The record they had in february 2018 was 25,1% for thin film and 28,8% for dual juntion.
Quite a good advance for efficince in some months.

Had they already products for on market?
What will be the estimated price per watt for their thin solar film ?

I saw some 40% efficient solar panels. Were still $20 a watt.

Efficiency doesn't really matter if you are putting them on the ground or roof top.
Getting the most W for the fewest $ is what matters here.

I complete agree with you.

But thin solar films was always said to be cheaper to manufacture than solid solar cell. At least it was what I always heard, since nanosolar printed cells and organic solar cell films.

The 40% efficience was reached only with ultra expensive multi junction cells and very concentrated solar light. Zeneth Solar on Israel have a system like that for hot, to produce electricity and hot water.

Holly s....t :

Alta Devices is flying high with UAVs | GUNTHER Portfolio
$

50 to $100 dolars per watt.

Forget about this thin solar cell, since it's cheaper to apply thin sheets of gold than use this cell.

Yeah those 40% ones were intended for use out side earths atmosphere.

Electromagnetics

I went through my textbooks and gleaned a few tidbits:
*electromagnetics is spoken in 3-different languages:
_CGS units
_English units
_MKS units
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
*CGS uses the 'weber' (after Wilhelm E. Weber)
*1 weber/meter-squared= one tesla (t)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
*English uses the gauss (G) (after Johann Karl Friedrich Gauss,1777-1855 )
*one gauss= 6.452 lines (magnetic flux)/inch-squared)
*10,000 gauss= one tesla(T)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
*MKS uses the tesla (T)(after Nikola Tesla 1857-1943)
*one tesla(T)= one weber/meter-squared
*one tesla(T)= 10,000 gauss
*the 'nanotesla' is used in Earth lithosphere seismology as a unit of measure with magnetometers, associated with seismomagnetic offsets @ epicentral distances, and piezomagnetic effects, and tectonomagnetic effects
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
*The magnetic field strength between the Sun and Earth is inversely proportional to the square of the distance in between them,or,follows an inverse-square relationship.
*Since Earth follows an elliptical orbit around the Sun,the magnetic field strength varies as the orbital distance varies
*Since Earth's orbital ellipticity also varies with one of the three Milankovitch cycles, the magnetic field strength is also coupled to this cycle.

It would be easier if humans just laid eggs. Don't want so just don't brood it.

Science says 12 weeks, and if I remamber well (mayne I'm wrong) it's related to myelin formation, that's what allow neurons to conduct electrical impulses..
There's that pesky science rearing it's ugly head again!

Why hide the data and capex totals? We know what people say it costs. But we also read official cost reports on solar which turn out to be much higher in the real world.
.
Wikipedia has data on Solar Star, Topaz, and Desert Sunlight which were all around $3.50/ Watt. At 30% capacity factor this makes them actually $10.50/ Watt installed not considering any further operating costs. And of course they produce 0 Wh every night.
