Perhaps there is a future cost to pay, but it's unclear when those costs outweigh the mighty benefits now. From the 1 article I linked, scientific evidence suggests the cost of global warming will exceed the benefits sometime around 2080.
This is where I hit an intellectual wall.
It seems that economists and actuaries missed a few things with their models, only to put even more people at risk now.
We grew a massive population up only to deny them a viable planet.
2018 is credited for $300-billion in climate-related losses.
There will be a point where the reinsurance industry throws their hands up and tells the insurance companies to go fish.
FEMA will close shop. There won't be anymore federal disaster relief.1st-responders will say !adios!
There's no certainty as to the timeline, but there's a whole lotta rumblin' goin' on out there.

Lol, I'd like to see anything at all get done when there's zero accountability and zero profit motive.

I think compared to being in the dark and in the cold on a winter night or burning up on a hot summer day nuclear will be a great option.
Just go with out any electricity for 2 days that will change people's minds real quick.

What were the profits due to global warming? Where can I look that data up?

Until population decreases due to increased deaths (as opposed to decreased births), the evidence just isn't there. FEMA probably should go away. People shouldn't be insulated from the risk of building their homes below sea level, or in flood or tornado prone areas. People have the right to buy the level of insurance they are comfortable with. It's up to insurance actuaries to calculate the risk.

New Deal

The Democrats couldn't even pass a sensible by compairson "carbon tax and cap" bill with the super majority in both houses.
What makes them think a way more extreme verson will ever pass?
One of the more extreme points was to provide economic security for people unwilling to work.

They want zero CO2 power generation, transportation and agriculture.
Well anyone who has ever been formally educated in any kind of power generation knows that's not going to happen.
And they will not build any additional nuclear power plants under this plan.
About 1/3 of the energy the United States consumes goes to transportation.
Eliminating all CO2 from agricultural sounds like a good way to starve a few million people to death.

So they want to replace all energy going on the power grid with renewables and replace all transportation with electric with out using nuclear power.
That's their plan. That means they dont have a plan or have any clue how they are going to do it besides not build any additional nuclear power plants. All the nuclear plants in the country couldn't even power the transportation used in the US. This is unprecedented stupidity.
Even CNBC says that nuclear power plants generate 2/3 of the carbon free electricity used in the United states.
It's not like we are going to run out of fissile fuel, there is enough depleted uranium sitting in ID to power the United States for about 700 years. Maybe by the time it runs out nuclear fusion will work.
I truly believe that they mean well. They may possess no more climate-related education then the next guy on the street.Don't know.
They'd want to surround themselves with the smartest people available for all the specifics.
The impossible takes a little longer,we'll have to see where all this goes.
You might write to them and offer your expertise.Show 'em how the cow eats the cabbage.

The problem is global,so a supranational clearing house, like the Allied Forces,Lend-Lease,Super-Lend-Lease,and the Marshall Plan worked out in WW-II.
The United States has nationalized railroads, the steel industry, sent military troops into the oilfields, suspended habius corpus.
Today we remain the beneficiaries of socialist programs instituted before and during the Great Depression, when Wall St. and all the economists destroyed our economy.
When you call 911,that's socialism when the Police or Fire Dept. arrive. When you drive on an interstate highway.Use an airport.Bring your offshore products into a US port.Use the Panama Canal.National parks.Go to Hawaii.Puerto Rico.Phillipines.Guam.US Virgin Islands.Louisiana Purchase.Gadsden Purchase.Alaska.Safe food.Drugs.Water supply.Radio for Coast Guard assistance.Get a weather forecast.Building standards.Plumbing standards.Pentagon.BLM.US Forest Service.Electrical standards.Homeland security.CIA.NRO.NSA.Gamble in Las Vegas with hydroelectric power from 56-federal hydroelectric dams. The internet.Satellites.The list is endless.
