So I'm going to replace the [failed] accessory cigar lighter and I'm wondering about the best location.
Last time I attached it to the back-seat back-rest stop so I wouldn't have to drill any holes. That was inconvenient.
I'm thinking about under the dash, on the tunnel next to the shifter, or on the kick panel under the right-hand side of the back seat. I'd really like 12v at the rear-view mirror mount for the dashcam, but that involves snaking wires through the A-pillar.
Any thoughts?

Unless you hate the current location, why not just replace it? They do disassemble unless it has other problems.

The one that self-destructed was behind the back seat. The new one has a plastic case and a USB port. I'd like to be able to reach it from the driver's seat.

If you're still mostly factory stock, run it from the fuse panel back then up through the driver defroster vent plastic eyebrow then under the front window rubber up to wherever around the mirror. Make a bracket that mounts to the mirror mount screws. 1/8" hole in the defroster eyebrows wouldn't hurt efficiency.
Disregard if you've got a round window super.

Thanks. As for that, there's 12v above the drivers door for the dome light. I should consider how much current the dashcam draws.
I was wanting to run a heavy gauge wire right from the battery, as much for a small 110v inverter as the lighter/USB port.

Remembering that '50 Simca which an uncle of mine used to have, and he bought it already repowered with a Beetle engine (IIRC it was a 1300)...
workaround ideas to discuss among friends: Beetle-engined Simca 8
