I found this for another thread.

https://i.pinimg.com/474x/6b/07/61/6...intage-ads.jpg

I now feel more lenient toward front-engined Beetles. ....so long as they're done this way. The 924 has a lateral crossmember in the same location as the Beetle's rear torsion bar housing. The entire suspension and brakes could be swapped in. The torque tube would fit or replace the tunnel. Major mods in front. Maybe the 1975 and later Superbeetle MacPherson struts with rack and pinion steering.

If it must be a V-8 there's always the Porsche 928.

How about the 4wd transmission in the rear and use the coupling driveshaft for input?

Most conversions I have seen either did the standard drivetrain on a subframe or had the V8 where the back seat was.

I picked this thread because the thumbnail is a green show car that never appears in the video itself.

His suggestion to provoke cavitation as an energy source reminds me of Viktor Schauberger's Implosion Energy.

Porsche or Subaru 4WD transmission? IIRC there was a conversion kit meant to use the Subaru 5-speed manual transmission on Vanagons.

Months ago, a guy who owns a Beetle converted to a more modern engine and transmission, mounted transversely, told me he got a custom subframe in order to fit the engine and transmission of an Audi A3 into his Beetle.

WE’VE BEEN HELPING PEOPLE LEVEL-UP THEIR CARS FOR TEN YEARS.
At Subarugears, we make reverse-cut ring and pinions to suit Subaru transmissions, and fully remanufactured reverse drive Subaru transmissions. These transmissions can be used with Subaru, VW and Porsche boxer engines, or any other engine for 5 or 6 forward gears in rear-engined cars.
On the A3 subframe I'm no help.

The guy resorted to a custom-made subframe, in order to fit the engine and the transmission of the A3. I didn't see it, the owner told me about that Beetle while he was driving a Ford Ka working through Uber.

Speaking of alterations, I would love to see somebody actually do a pretty good job of converting a bug into a 1940 Willy's tribute. The 1940 Ford Deluxe coupe look was okay, but I sure got tired of the old phony Rolls-Royce look that people used to do to these.

IIRC that was Portland International Raceway around 2013.
