I don't know why, but some American cars of the '30s and '40s remind me the Beetle a little.

I sure got tired of the old phony Rolls-Royce look that people used to do to these.
That is definitely bad-looking. For me it's either keep it stock, or get a MP Lafer instead of that Rolls-Royce look...

Red face

Way too chunky looking! The top of the side rails should be even with the Chrome strip at the base of the driver's window to look somewhat correct. But I'm sure your comment was a little tongue and cheek. There is a pickup kit for the new style bug that actually looks pretty good.

This ond-style one doesn't look bad either. I remember seeing one in my hometown, and another which was turned from a pick-up to some sort of station-wagon conversion in Pelotas.

Is there an echo in here?

The chrome strip could be extended, but I'd be more interested in a Type III engine and lowered bed height.

Sidedraft carb or injection of course. More to my taste, from Permalink #35:

That would make it even better. Too bad a single-carb intake manifold for the Type III in my country is nearly unobtainium nowadays, so EFI would be good.

The single-barrel Solex that came stock not as good as a dual choke sidedraft Weber.

I was not refering to a specific carburettor, but to that manifold. But anyway, most likely I'd keep the single-barrel Solex which is still one of the less hard-to-find (yet not exactly easy anymore) carburettor in my country, unless you'd rather adapt a carburettor out of a small motorcycle...
