Oh, I wouldn't say that. The geothermal plant up the road has been running for decades, the're a lot of hydro & wind on the grid from the Columbia River (among other places), quite a bit of residential wind & solar. But my point is "bang for the buck": if I spent $20-40K on an EV, I wouldn't have that money to e.g. install PV solar or solar heating, which would have much more effect than the marginal savings (per mile $ or CO2) of the EV.

I suspect the public expects the company that owned, operated and made money from the plant would also pay to clean up the plant.

The public didn't shut down Vermont Yankee, the owners did. They had 18 more years on their operational permit when it closed.

The same thing happens all over the place. A company extracts the profit from a resource for decades: mine, power plant, factory, etc and then leaves the cleanup to the public.

My electric coop offers both a solar and wind options.
The solar plan is offered in 200-kWh blocks, which exceeds my monthly use,so I went with the wind option,at a penny more per kWh (13-cents),which has no minimums.
After DARKO,next year,I'll be able to see where I'm at,with respect to a used entry level EV. 20-miles range is more than I need,and with the house already (theoretically) carbon free,the car will also be.

Why do you choose to pay more for your electricity? Volunteering to pay more does not change the Co-Op's generation sources.

How about: from a manufacturer that has brought us only compliance EVs so far, what are the chances they plan to make more than ~1500 of these a year?

Seriously, they have never done a ground up EV at all, only PHEVs and what are essentially conversions. What are the chances that they're bringing any real core competence to the F-150 EV?
